To evaluate the interrelationships among federal, state, regional, and local entities in the provision of services.

To analyze the structure, functions, revenue requirements, and fiscal policies of the state and its political subdivisions.

To examine proposed and existing federal and state programs. To review the research and recommendations of national

commissions studying local government relationships and problems.

To analyze the fiscal impact of new or modified state programs on municipalities and counties.

A reference document describing most of the revenue sources available to local governments.

It contains relevant information useful for local government budgeting purposes, including descriptions of revenue sources, estimated revenue distributions, and population estimates.

New for this year—Local Government Financial Reporting Requirements.

It is prepared, published, and distributed annually by the LCIR with technical assistance provided by the Department of Revenue’s Office of Tax Research.

• Prepares the estimated revenue distributions of state-shared revenues and local option taxes.

• Furnishes data used by LCIR staff to prepare or update several data tables.

LCIR• Updates the written descriptions of the various local

government revenue sources, including the summarization of relevant changes to general law provisions affecting those sources.

• Formats the data tables furnished by the DOR and prepares other accompanying data tables.

• Coordinates the report’s printing, maintains the report’s mailing lists, and prepares the reports for mass mailing.
