Glycolic Acid Treatment• Glycolic acid is the most popular

alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) used by dermatologists to treat skin conditions including acne, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage.

• The low molecular weight of glycolic acid allows for easier stratum corneum penetration and increased skin turnover rates.

• The pH of products with glycolic acid must be low to be effective.

• Products with pH ~3 are generally safe for Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV.

• Glycolic acid is most commonly used in acne and anti-aging products.

• Objective– To evaluate Floraesters K-20W Jojoba for its potential to

increase the rate of skin (stratum corneum) turnover (desquamation) when used in a lotion (pH = 2.5 – 3) with 2% glycolic acid (n=19)

• Results– 1% Floraesters K-20W Jojoba resulted in improved

skin turnover
