Brothers in Business:How the Kedings Reinvented Their Careers with Floor Business

The Keding brothers run their business with a special em-phasis on customer satisfaction—an emphasis exemplified through their “three Wow” system. “The first Wow occurs right at the beginning of the design process, when customers get visuals showing the transformation that we intend to pro-vide,” the Kedings explain. “The second Wow happens when the job is finished and they are able to catch their first glimpse of their new floors. The third Wow comes when friends and family members come by to see the finished product.”

When going into business, it’s always helpful to have a partner with whom a deep connection is shared. In Reggie Keding’s case, he has two of them. That’s because Reggie’s two part-ners, Kreg and Bryan, also happen to be his brothers. Together, the Keding brothers own and operate a Floor Coverings In-ternational franchise in Concord, California. In the past three years, they have achieved success beyond their projections.

Disenchanted by the construction business that the Kedings were previously apart of for five years, the trio decided to pro-vide their own flooring services—services, they say, that truly stand out from the competition. “I don’t believe we really have competition because the services we provide are unpar-alleled,” says Reggie. “We provide mobile, in-home flooring samples directly to customers’ doorsteps, so they can visualize what the room or rooms will look like immediately.”

As the brothers approach three years of providing the Contra Costa County area with flooring service, the Kedings let their accolades do the talking. A winner of Floor Coverings International’s coveted “Franchisee of the Year Award” they beat out 102 other franchisees in the process—and have earned the Angie’s List Super Service Award in recognition of their laudable customer service record, the Kedings’ success shows no sign of waning.
