Flo Melly News Su m m er 2016 Message from the Headteacher I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your tremendous help and support for our school over this academic year. We have had a very busy and successful year in Florence Melly Community Primary School and we are very grateful to all of our parents and carers for working in partnership with us and championing our school. Thank you all for making sure that your child attends every day and is in school on time. Your role is vital in promoting good attendance and good behaviour and I can say that on all of our recent trips our pupils have been excellent ambassadors for the school. Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, safe and enjoyable summer. I look forward to welcoming all children refreshed and ready for the challenges of the year ahead back to school on Tuesday 6th September. Liverpool Counts Quality Mark We are pleased to announce that Florence Melly has achieved 'Silver' for the 'Liverpool Counts Quality Mark' for Maths. The Quality Mark aims to: raise standards in mathematics and numeracy with fun and joy of number at its heart to challenge perceptions and change attitudes towards number and mathematics to raise the profile of numeracy using activities, events and resources based on real-life to bring relevance to numeracy through problem solving, demonstrating it is an essential skill. As a school, we have all worked hard to achieve this standard and look forward to embedding the aims further as our intention is to go for 'Gold' in the near future. 100% Attendance A huge thank you to Merseyside Police for donating our recent attendance prize, a fabulous mountain bike. The 100% attendance raffle was won by one of our year 6 pupils. Our local PCS@TO Officer Jacqui McNally and councillor James Noakes presented the prize. Let’s keep attendance a high priority for our school, remember you have to be in to win.

Year 5There is no better way to round off a superbyear than a trip to the seaside; especially whenit’s sunny (which it was!) Just ask our fantasticYear 5 pupils. They spent their end of year tripin New Brighton; enjoying a morning ofbowling and laser quest then the afternoon onthe beach. The children enjoyed a fish and chiplunch, ice-cream, cricket on the beach and apaddle in the waves. It really was a fantasticfinale to what has been a successful year.
