Why should I do this?•To reflect on our practices and rethink

how we teach.

•Motivation to use technology.

•Students can move at their own pace.

•Course content can be available for students to pre-study before a lesson or post-study to review a lesson.

•Parents can watch the videos and help their students.

Research says...•While it does not necessarily improve

student outcomes, flipped learning does not decrease the quality of student learning.

•Flipped learning increases student engagement and retention.

•The quality of the videos/presentation and accompanying materials plays a significant role in the effectiveness of the method.

How do I make videos?

How will they watch?•Not all students have the same

device.

•Not all students have the same connection.

•Videos need to go in multiple places: YouTube, Vimeo, iTunesU, SchoolTube, TeacherTube, school website.

•Never let technology be an excuse.

How do I know they really watched it?

•WSQ: When and where, Summary, Question

•Discuss for 10 minutes.

•Group discussion, think-pair-share, etc.

•Students who didn’t watch the video watch the video then do worksheets instead of joining in the activity.
