    FLIGHT TEST PLAN FOR N64KR

Introduction: This is a proposed flight test plan to be presented at the time of the initial

airworthiness certification inspection for a specific Rand Robinson KR2, N64KR, authored by an !eath, the test pilot and builder" It is intended for a complete e#aluation of this aircraft only" It is based onrecommendations made in the !omebuilt $d#isory %irculars a#ailable from the &$$, and will in its finalre#ision include recommendations, and re'uirements from the inspector after his inspection" It is a (6) si*phase 4+ hour test program co#ering testing and e#aluation of e#ery phase of flight anticipated"!owe#er, hase - will ta.e as long as it ta.es to insure that the pilot and aircraft are ready flight"

Phase 1: Ta*i testing and familiari/ation of ground handling + hours0ow speed ta*iing with wind from all directions"

!igh speed ta*iing including lifting the tail and then returning to 1point"!igh speed runway runs

Phase 2:&light testing, pattern wor. 2 hours2 one hour flights in closed pattern to e*ercise the engine and aircraft to

determine initial reliability while remaining close to the runway"

Phase 3: &light testing, reliability continuation and familiari/ation hoursNormal flight maneu#ers, shallow ban. turns, climbs and descents" Tocontinue e#aluating aircraft and become familiar with basic handlingcharacteristics in flight"

Phase 4: &light testing, stability testing -3 hoursThis phase comprises testing for o#erall aircraft stability in all phases of flight" Thepurpose is to determine to pro#e safety in all weights and loading arrangements"The aircraft will first be tested using only solo weight and minimum safe fuel to test for themost forward % that can be tested with this test pilot" Then it be tested by addingweights in #arying increments untill the ma*imum weight and the most aft allowable %condition has been reached"

5 Phase 5: &light testing of performance maneu#ers -3 hoursThis phase will continue pilot familiari/ation and pro#e controllability"This will include steep turns, climbs, decents, and stalls"ther high performance manu#ers will be tested if a test pilot 'ualified for suchmanu#ers in this aircraft can be retained"

Phase 6: &light testing simulated failure of flight controls 7 powerplant -3 hoursThis phase will test the aircraft in flight control failure circumstances, and establish the bestglide speed" It will be used to de#elop emergency procedures appropriate for this aircraft"8imulated engine failures near the airport with complete power off (simulated) landings will be

accomplished to pro#e emergency glide speeds and further refine emergency procedures"

TOTAL TESTING TIMES: GROUND 5 HOURS

    FLIGHT_________40 HOURS

    TOTAL 45 HOURS
