Flashback è il progetto dedicato all’arte pensato come “Opera Viva”.Un crocevia che connette in profondità zone temporali diverse: l’antico, il moderno e il contemporaneo nel suo farsi.Un evento che rivoluziona il racconto cronologico dell’arte.

“Ma non crede lei che l’arte contemporanea, fondata sul principio della soggettività, sia radicalmente diversa da quella antica?“In realtà l’arte è tutta contemporanea. Altrimenti sarebbe come se lei vedesse arrivare un’automobile del 1920 e decidesse di attraversare tranquillamente la strada pensando di non poter essere investita perché quell’automobile è di un’altra epoca. Flashback was born for sharing an original point of view on art history but also on today’s history.Its versatile approach has allowed a larger crowd to enjoy the artworks, no longer perceived as distant, for cultural or time-related reasons, but - in the end - as part of a concrete here and now experience.Flashback has been able to shape a new generation of collectors, critics, historians and art curators – more generally, individuals able to interpret their own contemporaneity.Flashback represents the opportunity of utilizing the past for one’s own present, of reconstructing the memory of what we have been and, above all, of what we could be.

Flashback nasce per offrire un punto di vista inedito sulla storia dell’arte e sulla storia di oggi.Un approccio più versatile che ha permesso a un pubblico sempre più vasto di godere di opere d’arte non più percepite come lontane – per motivi temporali o culturali – ma finalmente vissute nel qui e ora.Flashback ha saputo plasmare una nuova generazione di collezionisti, critici, storici e curatori d’arte – più in generale, individui in grado di interpretare la propria contemporaneità.Flashback rappresenta la possibilità di riutilizzare il preesistente per il nostro presente, ricomporre la memoria di chi siamo stati ma soprattutto di chi potremmo essere.

Flashback is a project which develops continuously throughout the year, but finds its peak and synthesis during the Torino Art Week, the week fully dedicated to art, able to attract more than 280.000 visitors – both fans and professionals – which is recognized as one of the liveliest ones in the world.During the year, Flashback lives its daily life thought several activities dedicated to cultural, temporal and social mixing because Flashback is Opera Viva (i.e. the special project of visual artist Alessandro Bulgini who, after declaring the fair and all the presented masterpieces “Opera Viva/Living Works”, left the spaces of art to stretch to the suburbs), an open, continously changing artwork, created by and for everybody.

Flashback è un progetto che si sviluppa ininterrottamente tutto l’anno ma trova il suo picco e la sua sintesi durante la Torino Art Week, la settimana totalmente dedicata all’arte, capace di attrarre più di 280.000 persone - tra appassionati e professionisti - e riconosciuta come una delle più vivaci al mondo. Durante il resto dell’anno Flashback vive la propria quotidianità attraverso una serie di iniziative dedicate alla mescolanza culturale, temporale e sociale. Perché Flashback è Opera Viva (n.d.r. progetto speciale dell’artista visivo Alessandro Bulgini che, dopo aver dichiarato la fiera e tutti i capolavori presentati “Opera Viva”, ha lasciato gli spazi dell’arte per inoltrarsi sul territorio), un’opera aperta in continuo divenire, creata da tutti e per tutti.

Each year Flashback’s tale grows up and renews itself. For each new edition, a new form is conceived and transformed into its four cornerstones. The Title. A theme to start the journey, a new chapter which captivates visitors and a new challenge for the gallerists who create an exhibition project with artworks fitting the current edition’s leitmotif.The Cover. A unique artwork, purposely created by a different visual artist to become the cover of each chapter of Flashback, as well as the inspiration for its layout.The Colour. If the Byzantines used a golden background to put together the figures of a mosaic and immortalize them in an ageless space, in the same way, at Flashback, colour is what unites the titles of each edition and fix them in a timeless dimension.The Set-up. An original set-up creates for each edition a unique, never-seen-before, path: the passage through the artgate, the wormhole, carries us each time into that elsewhere dimension where all art is contemporary.

Ogni anno il racconto di Fashback cresce e si rinnova. Per ogni nuova edizione, nasce una nuova forma mutata nei suoi quattro elementi portanti.Il Titolo. La scelta del tema che dà avvio al viaggio, un nuovo capitolo del racconto che coinvolge i visitatori e una nuova sfida per i galleristi che costruiscono un progetto espositivo con opere in linea con il leitmotiv di ciascuna edizione.La Copertina. Un’opera realizzata ogni anno da un diverso artista visivo per essere la cover di ogni capitolo di Flashback, nonchè il motivo ispiratore per la sua veste grafica.Il Colore. Se i bizantini sceglievano lo sfondo dorato per unire le figure di un mosaico e immortalarle in uno spazio atemporale, allo stesso modo, a Flashback, il colore unisce i tasselli di ciascuna edizione e li fissa in una dimensione senza tempo.L’Allestimento. Un inedito allestimento crea per ogni edizione un percorso unico e irripetibile: il passaggio attraverso l’artgate, portale spazio-temporale, ci trasporta ogni volta in quell’ altrove dove l’arte è tutta contemporanea.

Flashback expo. The galleries, chosen for the rarity and quality of their proposals.

Flashback special project. “Flashback is Opera Viva”, the visual project by artist Alessandro Bulgini which, from 2013, each year stigmatizes the artworks’ purpose and function.

Flashback exhibition. The exhibitions held inside and outside the location.

Flashback lab. The pedagogic workshops devised as a pathway of knowledge of art that roots into and connects to the history of the territory.

Flashback sound. Flashback soundtrack, result of a careful research of musicalities belonging to different backgrounds and composition matrices.

Flashback storytelling. Art is a neverending story and the ways to narrate it are limitless.
