IIM Lucknow achieved 100% placements for the graduating batch of 2014 on 7 th February 2014. The placements ended on a high note and 440 offers were made by 207 recruiters including 49 new recruiters for a batch of 436 stu- dents. The offers included 92 pre-placement offers (PPO) and 132 lateral offers. The number of PPOs this year was the highest ever, which increased 28% from last year. Online retailers Flipkart and Amazon were among the leading recruiters. Also recruiting in high numbers were consulting companies Deloie, McKinsey and Boston Consulting Group; IT firms IBM India, Accenture and Cog- nizant; ICICI Bank Ltd and Axis Bank Ltd, and pharmaceutical firms Cipla Ltd and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceu- ticals Ltd. Among consumer goods companies, Procter and Gamble, Hindustan Unilever and Kraft-Cadbury were the leading recruiters. Sales, marketing, consulting and finance companies were the lead recruiters at IIM-L. About 24% of the jobs offered were in sales and marketing, 21% were by consulting firms, and 18% by finance companies. The Institute aracted diverse roles in finance. The rest of the roles were offered in domains such as market research, analytics, business development, social media mar- keting and HR among others. The regional round of Tata Crucible business quiz was held on 27th February at the Vivanta by Taj at Lucknow. Stu-

dents from all over the state had travelled to be part of the quiz. Three of the six finalist teams were from IIM Luck-

now. In the end, the duo of Aviral and Kshemu Desai clinched the runner-up title. Please click here to read the offi-

IIM Lucknow students clinch the runner-up title

IIM Lucknow’s convocation day saw diplomas being conferred on 658 students. The diplomas were awarded by Dr.

Devi Singh, Director IIM Lucknow and Shree Deepak Parekh, Chairman, Housing Development Finance Corpora-

tion Ltd. (HDFC) who was the Chief Guest for the event.

409 students from the 28th batch of PGP, 42 students from the 9th batch of PGP-AM, 12 students from the Doctoral

Programme along with 125 students of Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executives (WMP)

and 70 students of International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX) batches from the Noida campus

received the diplomas. Additionally, other prestigious awards were given to students with exceptional achieve-

ments.

Dr. Devi Singh in his speech highlighted the achievements and the activities conducted in the academic year 2013-

2014 . He opined that the past decade had been very challenging for IIM Lucknow and that it has been able to

emerge out of it successfully. Mr Deepak Parekh spoke extensively on overcoming the IIM ‘side effects’. He said that

there are three side effects of passing out of IIM—people having a preconceived notion about IIM graduates; con-

stant worry about whether one has landed the right job and thirdly falling prey to the lure of too-much-too-soon .He

emphasized that an IIM graduate’s decorum and demeanor at work place will be judged constantly. Finally he ad-

vised the students to, strive for exponential growth of pies to become successful managers.
