Each part will be focused in one of the musical aspects of flamenco music. The last one (4. Flamenco Ensemble) will be a little improvisation round with the participants playing by themselves flamenco music using the tools that they’ve learned in the previous parts of the session. 1. Flamenco Rhythm. Learning the basic flamenco’s rhythms: 1. Soleá 2. Alegría 3. Bulería Theory + Practice (Clapping and with Flamenco percussion). The theory part will be very easy only the basics terms to understand how flamenco rhythm is constructed and how to play it. We won’t use music notation, only diagrams to make it easier. The practice will be the very important part of this part. The assistant will play the rhythms clapping and with percussion instruments, always inside of the flamenco typical timbre. 2. Flamenco Instruments Percussion instruments Flamenco Guitar Flamenco Piano In this second part, participants will see and touch the most typical instruments from flamenco music. They will learn how they are built and how to play it (in the most simple way). Then they will listen songs from the principal flamenco artists and recognize this instruments inside the music. 3. Flamenco Harmony We will learn some basics scales and chords progressions to play flamenco music on the piano. Each participant will do what they can, always inside their musicals skills with the instrument. In this part we will use a little bit of music notation, but also will be a diagram to help those who don’t know music notation so well, so everyone will be able to play it. 4. Flamenco Ensemble We will do an flamenco improvisation round playing with the instruments that each person wants (piano, percussion or clapping) the chords progressions will be played by the guide of the activity (Carmen) to help to keep the round on and on. The purpose of this activity is to feel what is one of the principal roots of flamenco: play together and having fun.
