DESCRIPTION
AUDIENCE Flatland covers a multitude of ideologies. It explores Victorian culture, social hierarchy but most importantly dimensions. The idea was to tie in the traditional aspect of the book and its heritage but to also explore the idea of space and dimensions within what we produced. The focus will be towards followers of Edwin A. Abbott and his novella. The pack will be aimed at intellectual commuters who are looking to enrich their daily travel, with a handy pocket size chapbook. BRIEF

BRIEF
This was a collaboration with Ed Webb. Create a re-edition for the Victorian novella, Flatland written by Edwin A Abbott which is to be submitted to ISTD.
CONCEPT
Flatland covers a multitude of ideologies. It explores Victorian culture, social hierarchy but most importantly dimensions. The idea was to tie in the traditional aspect of the book and its heritage but to also explore the idea of space and dimensions within what we produced.
AUDIENCE
The focus will be towards followers of Edwin A. Abbott and his novella. The pack will be aimed at intellectual commuters who are looking to enrich their daily travel, with a handy pocket size chapbook.
RESOLUTION
The product is limited edition pack containing a re-designed version of the book cover alongside a fold out poster and chapbook. A chapbook is a pocket size booklet popular from the 16th to 19th century. The small chapbook is designed to be pocket size and narrates one chapter of the novella.

A bookmark that also acts as an introduction to the pack and it’s contents.

An invite targeted at Flatland enthusiast for a book lauch.

Re-editioned novel
The re-editioned book comes in a a variety of three colours to complement the the range of the three pack designed. The Flatland pack contains a re-bound cover of the latest publication of Flatland, a bookmark that also acts as an introduction to the pack and a collectable poster for avid Flatland enthusiasts.
Pack
The cover of the pack is translucent; this not only functions as a robust way to display an all the contents, but also parallels the journeys that characters within the book take.
Firstly it suggest the idea of imprisonment, that characters within the story face if they dare to preach the truth that a 3rd dimension (Spaceland) may exist. The cover also suggests how the character, Square is
enlightened when he discovers the third dimension and his previous knowledge of the world is turn up-side-down. Square also dreams he is visited by a Sphere, the translucency of the cover supports the dream like state that he is in when he is educated on what exists beyond his own domain.
