– Submit products to each utility separately for

approval.

– Products approved for one utility might not be

approved for a neighboring utility.

• Suppliers & Contractors

– Unsure of rules and territory for each utility.

– Frequently sell & install unapproved equipment.

TimelineOctober 2000 Meeting between the utilities began.

March 2001 A draft specification was submitted to

the Chairman of the ANSI C12.15

Committee for Meter Enclosures for

review.

July 2001

The final specification was signed by all

contributing utilities.

October 2001 Presentation made to the municipal and

co-op utilities attending the Southeastern

Metering Association School.

January 2002 All manufactures had to requalify their

products by this date to be included in

the combined Approved Enclosure List.

March 2008 Gulf Power joins the FMG

The entire cover with the meter attached can be

removed.

There must be an exposed

latch and hasp to insure that the integrity of the meter compartment has

not been compromised.

No barrier between utility line side and customer panel.

This is a new enclosure (meter/breaker combination unit). The #6 solid copper ground is routed for potential

phase to ground fault.
