SNACK ATTACK HELPS STUDENTS AT FJH Fishers Junior High is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for students in need. The program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to help students in need with some extra snacks to get them through the weekend.

Participating students will pick up a small sack bag on Friday to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with 5-10 individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.

There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack, please contact Kim Broughton at [email protected].

Fishers Junior High welcomes your donations to the program. If you are so inclined, please drop off snack items at the front office or send in with your student. Thank you in advance!

ORCHESTRA HONORS AND PERFORMANCES

Congratulations to Noah Strawhacker! Noah won the Indiana Music Education Association's middle school composition competition for his piece titled "Astrea", premiered by FJH Chamber Orchestra in 2019. This is a gigantic accolade for an extremely talented Charger! Noah will be recognized at the IMEA Conference, Saturday, January 18 as well as at the February 12th HSE Board meeting.

Congratulations to Tayla Koenig! Tayla, Philharmonic Cellist, will be representing FJH at the Indiana Music Education Association's Junior All-State Orchestra! This is a tremendous opportunity for a very talented cellist! Tayla will be performing with students from around the state of Indiana on Saturday, January 18 at 9:00AM at the Fort Wayne Convention Center. This performance is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, December 11 the students in the FJH Orchestra Program performed their Winter Concert. Thank you to Casey Alexander for videoing. I have included the links – UNFORTUNATELY, due to some weird cosmic force (similar to the Bermuda triangle) the piece that featured: Sturgeon, Broviak and Stumpf did not get recorded. Everything before/after their performance worked perfectly.

If you would like to check out the students performances, please click on the link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLT8ByfeiAGUBeHx3FdZaANoWuVIXTTQhS

On Thursday, December 12, we went caroling at the Indiana State Museum – the highlight for the students was having their picture with Santa!

On Friday, December 13, members of Strolling Strings performed for the residents at the Grand Brooke Memory Care. The students performed a variety of holiday pieces and then provided an opportunity for the residents to try and play an instrument – it was a fun time!

On Sunday, December 15, students from FJH, FCJH, HSEJH, and RJH performed holiday music for the

pre-show at the Pacers Basketball game. This is the 16th year for the students to do this event.

The Final Caroling performance by Strolling Strings was on Friday, December 20th at the HSE Admin building. Our own composer in residence, Noah Strawhacker, arranged a piece to perform for Mike Rueter to celebrate his retirement. THANK YOU EVERYONE for your support and help with making this performance possible. We have already been put on the calendar for next year!!
