1. Who Are Angels?

Angels are spiritual beings created by God to serve Him

Psalm 148Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all his heavenly assembly! Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he gave the command and they came into existence.

• Angels are God’s servants created to do what God tells them to and to praise him forever!

• God made all the angels at the same time, and they are spiritual beings like God—so that means they do not have a body like you and me, but they are part of the spiritual world.

2. What are Angels Like?

Angels are Amazing

• Sometimes, people are very scared when they see angels, even though angels are good.

• Angels love God and worship Him forever.• When people see angels, they know that God

is helping them.

3. What do Angels Look Like?

• Different angels look different ways.• Angels can look just like us, or they can look very beautiful

and amazing, or we might not be able to see them at all.• We don’t know for sure how angels look, but the stories in

the Bible tell us they are amazing and wonderful!• Here are some more descriptions of angels…

“Living Creatures” – Ezekiel 1

Can you even imagine such wonderful creatures?

“Living Creatures” – Ezekiel 1As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great

cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal. And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings. Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf's foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus: their wings touched one another. Each one of them went straight forward, without turning as they went. As for the likeness of their faces, each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle. Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies. And each went straight forward. Wherever the spirit would go, they went, without turning as they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures darted to and fro, like the appearance of a flash of lightning.

Seraphim – Isaiah 6:1-3In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;the whole earth is full of his glory!”

4. What do Angels Do?

Angels are God’s MessengersLuke 2:8-12 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”

Angels are God’s MessengersMatthew 28:1-7 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”

Angels are Warriors!2 Kings 19:32-35“Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come into this city or shoot an arrow there, or come before it with a shield or cast up a siege mound against it. By the way that he came, by the same he shall return, and he shall not come into this city, declares the LORD. For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.”And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

Angels Provide for UsElijah is Nourished By an Angel in 1 Kings 19But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness … And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him and said to him, “Arise and eat.” And he looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water.

Angels Protect Us!

An angel came to protect Isaac right when Abraham was about to offer him as a sacrifice.

Angels Protect Us!Acts 12:6-11

Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.” And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him. When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.”

5. Where do Angels Live?

Angels Live Everywhere

• God sends His angels to be around you all the time, even when you sleep.

• God uses His angels to keep you safe and to help you never be afraid.

Conclusion

God Made Angels For US!• God made angels a LONG TIME before He made us, but He was thinking all about you and me when He made them.

• God knew we would get into danger, and so angels were made as part of His big, big plan to rescue us! What a great God!
