Fitting Instructions For Vertical Blinds

Warning Please take care when unpacking your blind, do not use a knife or any sharp objects when unpacking.

Your blind will come with two bracket options – face fix and top/ceiling fix brackets. Choose where you want to fix your brackets - face mount onto a wall/ window frame or top mount the blind onto the ceiling/ underside of a recess.

Step One. Fitting the brackets

A bracket should sit at either side of the rail, 40mm away from the end. Re-maining brackets should be equally distributed along the width.

Fix brackets to ceiling or lintel with holes drilled on a line at least 80mm from the wall or window frame for blinds with 127mm louvres or 60mm for blinds with 89mm louvres.

Fix brackets to wall or window frame as closely as possible to the ceiling or lintel with same spacing as recommended for the top fixing brackets.

Step Two. Fitting the track

Top Fix

Rest the front ridge of the rail onto the front lip of the bracket. Lift the back of the rail to meet the bracket and press firmly upwards so that it clicks into place securely.

Face Fix

Rest the rear ridge of the rail into the hook on the bracket. Lift the front of the rail up so that it sits flush with the bracket and tighten the front screw so that it secures into the front ridge of the rail.

The child safety device (p-clip) must be installed at maximum distance possible from the control mechanism to prevent the looped cord/ chain from becoming slack.

Step Three. Fitting the louvres

1. Place the safety ‘P-Clip’ in the desired position on the walland mark the position of the hole with a pencil.

2. Drill the hole. Use a screw to attach the safety‘P-Clip’ to the wall. Ensuring the cord and chain are taut.

Step Four. Fitting the child safety cleat.

EXPERT ADVICEOnce the headrail is in place, use the beaded chain to turn the hooks so that they are all facing in the open position (90° to the track), which will make it easier to hook the slats on. Hook each slat on to each of the hooks on the headrail, keeping all seams one way.

The child safe cord ‘P-Clip’ must be installed at the maximumdistance possible from the control mechanism and minimum1.5 m from the floor.

EXPERT ADVICE

If you pull the cord to open or close the blind but the blind doesn’t move, then take the blind down and look inside the headrail to make sure that the metal tilt rod is fully engaged with the sidewinder mecha-nism. This rod should rotate when the side chain is pulled. If it doesn’t, take off the headrail end cap located at the opposite end of the rail to the chain mechanism and push the metal rod until it’s fully en-gaged with the sidewinder mechanism. The chain should now rotate the rod.Caring for your blind• Do not allow moisture to settle on the blinds. . • Wipe louvres with a clean damp cloth. Do not use any type of detergent to clean your blind.

• Do not oil or lubricate any part of the blind to prevent damaging the operating mechanism or the fabric of your blind..

Make it safe

Use cord control to travers the louvres and chain control to rotate them.Alternatively, for wand operated blinds, the wand traverses and rotates the louvres.

• Move beds, cots and furniture away from window covering cords.

• Do not tie cords together.

• Make sure cords do not twist and create a loop.. Want to see how it’s done? Watch our video fitting guides on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/directblinds

The child safe cord ‘P-Clip’ must be installed at the maximumdistance possible from the control mechanism and minimum1.5 m from the floor.

Step Five. To operate the blind

Do not travers blinds with louvres in closed position. Always turn them 90° to the track.

Child Safety Legislation dictates that the headrailof this blind should NOT be fitted lower than 1.5 metres

(approx. 60”) from floor level.

Young children can be strangled by loops in pull cords, chains, tapes and inner cords that operate the product.
