Alloy Valve Guidelines
Emerson Process Management expertise hascombined its knowledge of metals and foundrytechniques with valve user experience in creatinghigh alloy valves that fight corrosion successfully.
Guidelines have been developed to help the valveuser specify alloy valves correctly. Techniques havealso been implemented that verify a foundry’s abilityto cast alloy valves properly and has establishedstringent specifications that guide the foundry inproviding quality results.
Valve user guidelines include — Avoid the use ofalloy tradenames, Don’t specify wrought for cast,Forego non-destructive testing
Steps used to qualify a foundry include —Weldability tests to gauge the foundry’s ability topour alloy materials, Dedicating casting patternssolely to high-alloy service
Stringent specifications developed by EmersonProcess Management include — Raw MaterialComposition and Quality, Heat Qualification, VisualInspection, Weld Repair, Heat Treatment, andNondestructive Testing

FIELDVUE digital valve controllers arecommunicating, microprocessor-based controllersthat convert a current signal to a pressure signal tooperate the actuator.
Through the HART or FOUNDATION fieldbuscommunications protocol, the controller gives easyaccess to critical valve information. AMS ValveLinkSoftware allows easy access to valve assemblyperformance characteristics. Vital information can beobtained without removing the valve from the line.
Performance diagnostic tests, including on-line
friction, deadband analysis, and trending can be runwhile the valve is in service and operating.
Valve signature, dynamic error band, and stepresponse are displayed in an intuitive user-friendlyenvironment that allows easy interpretation of data.
FIELDVUE models include the DVC6000, theDVC6000 SIS for safety applications, the DVC6000f,and the DVC2000 with local user interface forcalibration.
