We Welcome Dr. Brad Creed, September 29 Brad Creed is Provost and Executive Vice President and Professor of Religion at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a native of Jacksonville, Texas, and received his education at Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a PhD in the History of Christianity from Southwestern Seminary. He has been active in Baptist life having served on various state and national denominational committees, and has been the interim pastor of churches in Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia, Florida, and Alabama. Dr. Creed is married to the former Kathy Harton, also a native of Jacksonville, Texas, and they have two children, Charlie and Carrie Grace.
Let's Play Golf Sunday October 13, at the Williams Creek Wee course at 2:00 pm. The format is a foursome scramble with a shotgun start. The cost is $35. There will be no prize ceremony or meal afterwards, but we can gather in the clubhouse and have refreshments from their supplies and a little bragging time together. Looking For a Way to Serve? October 27, 4:30 to 6:30 pm We need volunteers for Trunk or Treat! It is a great way to serve your church family and the surrounding community. Women on Mission (WOM) Tuesday, October 1, Room 302, 11 am Our program this month is being given by Carl Lord from the Tennessee Baptist Missions Mobilization Center. Our meeting starts at 11 am. Plan to arrive by 10 am for our small group mission study. We would love to have you come and learn with us. Lunch ($6) will be served in Trentham Hall following the program. Missions Trip March 15-22, 2014, Rio Grande Valley, TX First Baptist Church will once again be partnering with Buckner International and the Baptist Collegiate Ministry at UT Knoxville to serve the Rio Grande Valley, TX, community. The trip will be March 15-22, 2014.
