Hearing God’s Whispers of Love Nick Campbell Youth Ministry Assistant to Middle School

Have you ever played the game “telephone” where one person whispers a message to another and as it gets passed along the line the message gets changed? It seems that somewhere the transmission gets a little messed up to the point where the final message is completely different from the first. I want to address one area where Jesus wanted to make sure that we get the clear message, and that is whom to love.

In Matthew Chapter 5, we see Jesus address six different “laws” and not only give new laws but a new way of living. In verses 43-45, Jesus tells us to love not only our neighbors, but our enemies, too. This can be a difficult task. But we see here that God does not choose who the sun rises on or whom the rain falls on. Everyone, Christian and non-Christian, benefit from the sun and the rain. So we too as Christians cannot choose whom to love. We must love everyone, as Christ calls us to live a life for Him. Just as He died on the cross for ALL, we must share His love with ALL.

I encourage you to go out with the determination not to choose whom you love, but love everyone as Christ did when He came to the earth to die for your sins, my sins and the sins of ALL the earth.

With humility and gratitude, it can be said FBC Sevierville is by God’s grace a unique and blessed church. I have not discussed this with our Pastor Search Committee, but it is obvious that would make selecting a pastor a complex challenge.

When all the different philosophies of church music, doctrinal distinctive, plural forms of church government, denominational factions, schools of theology, and personality types are considered, it is easy to see the field is narrowed dramatically. The number from which to choose is restricted. Our committee is doing a superb job and is deserving of our prayer support.

A personal concept by which I operate helps in being patient and active while waiting on the Lord. It is this: I am in His keeping, under His training, for His time.

That is true of this precious church. The fact we do not have a pastor at this time does not mean we do not have a God, our God. He is keeping this fellowship while training it for the moment when He sends a fortunate pastor.

As the Search Committee is to be committed, so is the congregation. Though ambitious to get a pastor, little anxiety is expressed. Wisely, the body is being patient obeying the command, “Wait upon the Lord, run not before Him.”

In a recent sermon, I discussed four types of love as identified by Bernard of Clairvaux. Here is a quick review of those:

Price Tags... Love of self for self’s sake.

Love of God for self’s sake.

Love of God for God’s sake.

Love of self for God’s sake.

The first is selfish. The second is a “what’s in it for me” attitude. The third is because we have found Him to be loving and faithful and are drawn to Him. The fourth is an outgrowth of the third. At this point, we live not for self-gratification but God’s glorification. We desire to be used of Him.

Honestly evaluate yourself and move ever closer to the third and fourth types of love. When you reach the fourth stage, then you can truly say…

I am in His keeping, under His training, for His time.

Keep on praying for the will of our Father in your life and that of the church.

One more important thing. I would be remiss if I did not express the gratitude of “Miss” Trudy and myself for every expression of your love. May you sense our love for you.

His and your loving servant, Nelson L. Price

Orbit Village Mission Project Nairobi, Kenya Scott Andrews Associate Pastor Worship/Missions

One can hardly describe all that God is doing in the Orbit Village but I want to at the very least share with you what God did on our recent mission trip there. The Orbit Village Mission Project was birthed by our church many years ago out of a desire to help needy children in the African country of Kenya. Cyndy Waters and one of our former members, Greg Johnson, took that desire and ran with it. Through the years, God has had His hand on this ministry. Many of our mission organizations have been involved with this project in one way or another. Dozens of our church members now support dozens of children of the Orbit Village Project. This school and orphanage is a beacon for Christ in a world desperate for the love of Jesus. Out of the this project two churches have been birthed, the Orbit Baptist Church, Orbit Village and the Orbit Baptist Church, Mathare Valley.

Our mission team had the privilege of participating in four major events during our

House presentation with 390,000 of those choosing a saving and personal relationship with Jesus Christ for the first time. In addition Judgement House has an amazing impact on the church or organization that chooses to become a covenant partner and produce a Judgement House presentation of their own. These covenant partners are continually reporting that producing a Judgement House presentation unifies their people, focuses, enriches, and improves their prayer lives, and energizes their commitment to reaching the lost of their community.

A Judgement House presentation becomes an “agent of change” in the community in which it is presented. Entire communities are moved from guilt to grace, and from sin to salvation and from death to life.

time there this past August. Many of you provided for the Zawadi Bag project whereby children receive toys and gifts much like the Operation Christmas Child project. Because of your contributions and the contributions of others, over 400 children and approximately 40 staff members of the Orbit Village Project received a Zawadi Gift Bag. We were able to help put those bags together and distribute them. We were also privileged to share the Gospel with the children and two dozen prayed to received Christ.

As this was the end of the school year, we were also able to participate in what amounted to an end of the school year celebration. We taught the boys and girls songs they could sing for the celebration. Hundreds attended this event and over three dozen were saved as we shared the gospel.

Additionally, two crusade services were planned at each church. The boys and girls sang the songs we taught them during the week for these two crusade services. The Orbit Baptist Church, Mathare Valley is located in one of the largest slum areas in the world. This valley is home to over 1.6 million people…

some estimates have the population over 2 million. We were able to go into that valley and share the Gospel and promote the crusade. The crusade was in an open area right next to the church and lasted some 4–5 hours. Six people prayed to receive Christ…hundreds were witnessed to as they either stopped or passed by the open air crusade.

On Sunday, we had a crusade service at the home church in Orbit Village, Orbit Baptist Church. The two-hour service lasted three and a half hours and several were saved that day as well. One salvation was a result of the some of the men that got saved the day before in Mathare Valley bringing their friend to hear the Gospel. What a joy to see the Gospel being lived out in the lives of those new Christians.

To learn more about what is going on in the Orbit Village Project, you can visit their Facebook page.

This is what initiated the mission of the Judgement House organization. Which is to provide as many people as possible with an opportunity to choose a saving, and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They believe the basis for this mission can be found in Matthew 28:19-20. “Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

If you would like to attend this year’s presentation you can make reservations by calling the church office, 453-9001. The dates are October 12, 13, 16, 17 & 18.

Judgement House

Judgement House is a dramatic walk-through presentation about the truth of people’s choices and their consequences both in this life and the next.

But Judgement House is so much more than that. No other tool is more effective at presenting people with an opportunity to choose a personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

Over more than 20 years, Judgement House has established a remarkable track-record as the most effective evangelistic tool for reaching those who are wary of attending a traditional church service or outreach event. Since its inception in 1983 an estimated 3.9 million people have attended a Judgement
