Revolution Nick Campbell Assistant Student Minister: Middle School “I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” – Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT)

This summer has had many opportunities for all to participate in church led events, trips and activities. I hope in writing this that you have found yourself able to participate or at least observe some of these amazing opportunities!

Our youth traveled to Panama City in early July where our theme was Revolution. God has been moving in the hearts of our students in a major way and I want to share some thoughts on why this theme has been and will continue to be important to all Christians.

Once we start a relationship with Christ, we must be on guard to have a revolutionary attitude every day. Our relationship with Christ is anything but normal. We are called to share with the world who Jesus is and what he has done for us! We must continually choose to revolt against what the world says is good, fun and acceptable and look to what Christ says is acceptable. Sometimes this means giving up things we don’t want to give up, breaking off relationships we are in because they are not honoring God, or even going and apologizing and mending relationships that we have injured because we were not following God. A revolution in our life must be Christ led, where we are looking to Him and letting Him lead us. No matter the outcome, effect on others feelings, or situation, we must ALWAYS honor Christ with our actions and words.

As I wrap this up, I want you to take a look at your life and ask yourself: “Am I leading a life of Revolution for Christ EVERY day?” If not, I encourage you to look at what is stopping you from giving all to Christ and letting Him take complete control of your life. Let God take out your “stony, stubborn heart and replace it with a tender, responsive heart.”

I recently had a very meaningful “exit interview” with one of our members who is moving out of state. Debbie Campbell is going home to Ohio to be close to her grandson (only grandparents truly understand the irresistible gravitational pull of a grandchild).

Debbie is leaving with a lot of tears because of what First Baptist Church has meant to her. I know Debbie will be missed by our Celebration Choir and our Friday Night Lights group. She has been a faithful member and she has used her gifts to bless the Bride of Christ.

Debbie told me that she decided to become a member of First Baptist Church during the interim. When she shared her decision with friends from her church in Ohio, they asked her, “How can you join a church that doesn’t even have a pastor?” Debbie’s reply is one of the greatest compliments I have ever heard about a church: “Because that church knows how to pastor people!”

My prayer is that we will always be a congregation that knows how to pastor people – to love and care and nurture one another. I thank God for our greeters, ushers, pastors, parking ministry, Sunday School workers, and other ministry leaders who provide servant leadership to the First Baptist “flock”. I thank God for all our members who do the “little things” that make our church warm and friendly. I am proud to be part of

From the Pastor’s Heart...a church that overflows with the love of Jesus.

Let’s keep it up, church family. For Debbie, the “little things” were simple invitations to sit with someone in worship, to share a meal with new friends, and to join a Sunday School class. We can all do little things like that. Little is much when God is in it, and a lot of little acts of love can add up to a big-hearted church!

I love being your pastor!

Sewing for the Savior Elaine Cutshaw

Several members of our church made, provided supplies, and financed the delivery of 137 pillowcase dresses for Orbit Village in Kenya recently.

Linda Seaton and I were aware that other area churches had similar ministries, but neither of us had any idea that the Lord was working on us individually to get involved in this ministry. I mentioned it to Linda because of our shared interest of sewing. To my surprise, like me, Linda had already spoken to Cyndy Waters about sending dresses to Orbit, but unlike me, she had already set a goal and solicited others in her Sunday School class to get involved.

Even though I was a little behind in the vision, members of my Sunday School class and friends throughout the church jumped on board once I began promoting this ministry. Ladies who loved to sew, but had not expressed their talent in years, suddenly had a God-ordained way to share their creations. They far surpassed our expectations.

national ministry that had great results in cities like Charlotte, North Carolina. An organization that started as a result of Sunday’s revival invited evangelist Mordecai Ham to Charlotte. In one of those meetings, Billy Graham received Christ as his Savior and later became the most prominent evangelist of our time.

When you think you don’t have much to offer, remember Sunday school teacher Edward Kimball, who spent a Saturday afternoon reaching out to someone in his class. God has a special way of using routine faithfulness in the “small things” to accomplish great things!

What may seem insignificant, mundane, routine, or small is often used by God to show His power over all.

One lady made 30 dresses, others took great pains with details and professional quality sewing skills. Another provided a tiny stuffed bear with a “Jesus loves you” message to be placed in each dress pocket. One gentleman gave $50 to buy supplies. Dozens of people gave material and pillowcases while three individuals paid the shipping costs for this 40-pound gift.

The dresses have now been delivered, and it is difficult to describe the pleasure that each of us felt as we saw the smiles on the faces of those little girls across the world as they modeled their first new dress. What a sense of accomplishment for accepting the Lord’s challenge to do our best.

With these pictures, Cyndy explained that 40 more dresses are needed for the 7th and 8th grade girls in Orbit Village. So, our sewing machines started humming again. What an incredible way for anyone with even limited sewing skills to be involved in an ongoing mission and it can be done from the comfort of your own home. Anyone interested in this ministry can contact me at 933-6230.

God uses small things to accomplish great things for His glory.

Small ThingsOur Daily Bread

Skeptical about the usefulness of a small lunch, Andrew said to Jesus, “What are [these five loaves and two fish] among so many?” (John 6:9). Yet the little lunch in the hands of Jesus turned out to be a huge blessing. So, before you think that you don’t have much to offer Jesus, consider this:

Edward Kimball, a Sunday school teacher in Boston, decided to visit a young man in his class to be sure he was a Christian. That day he led that man, Dwight L. Moody, to the Lord.

Moody, the Billy Graham of the 19th century, had a major impact on Wilbur Chapman. Chapman, a prominent evangelist, recruited Billy Sunday to join in his evangelistic campaigns. In turn, Sunday launched a
