Just Think’n – Rosanne Roberts

These days I’m thinking about gratitude and a call to love. I have been taking time to consider all the things in my life to be grateful for. Perhaps it’s because in looking back on my pastoral ministry it’s easier to see God’s love at work. From how a pastor in New Hampshire heard about me, and when I think about those events I can’t help but see God’s hand in those events. Events that brought me into pastoral ministry and to this place. Even years earlier, when through heartbreak, I came to realize I had forgotten that God should be first in my life. It was a time when work was number one and my priorities were out of whack and it took heartbreaking events to turn my life around.

The years spent in various ministries, serving the people God loves, can teach love. The people around me have taught me how to love through their gift of love. You’ve taught, through your love. What an amazing gift this is. Our ability to love is just such an amazing gift from God that we are able to share, a gift we are able to give one another. There are times when this thought

comes into my head and it can bring me to tears, because it is just so overwhelming. It can take my breath away because love is just so big, so humbling and so astounding, and so very powerful. This is God’s greatest gift to people. And too often we seem to just fritter it away. I would encourage you to take a bit of time, sit quietly; think about love. The love in your life, the people whom you love and who love you, the God who loves you. Can you see how that love grows? Spreading out like ripples in a pond, circling out to the edges, encircling all of life. It’s funny how by loving others we learn to love ourselves. And it’s surprising how love can grow so far beyond us. Is love contagious, not sure, but today I sure hope so, because “what the world needs now is love, sweet love.” 2019 Pledge information If you made a pledge for 2019 and have not received your year-end giving statement or you feel there needs to be a correction, please let Laurie Brown know by e-mailing her at: [email protected]

2020 Pledges Have you had a chance to complete a pledge form in support of your church’s ministries? This year’s goal for pledges is $138,000.00, however we currently stand at $94,390.00 in pledged giving. It’s not about keeping the heat on, or the electric bill. Your pledge is important in support of the ministries of your church. So many give generously to the church, but have not completed a pledge form, and your filling out a form would be so very helpful.

Thank You Notes… From Marlboro Jr. Women’s Club and committee for Voices Against Domestic Violence: On behalf of all of us who attended the Rivers Edge Concert in December, Thank You. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the concert very much. On top of the concert, we want to thank you for your hospitality and inviting everyone to the craft fair.
