Glorifying God as we make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
First United Methodist Church January 2020
HOMEMADE TAKE-OUT
The Believers Sunday School Class is bringing back to you our popular winter favorite! Make plans to stock your freezer, enjoy a homemade lunch, or share with a friend. We will again be offering pre-ordered homemade soup by the quart and whole homemade pies to be picked up in the Fellowship Hall immediately following worship service on
Sunday, January 19.
This year, the need to simplify a bit will mean that only vegetable beef soup and apple pies will be available for purchase. These are the two all-time favorites, so we hope you will enjoy them. To pre-order, please complete the order form that will be inserted in Sunday morning worship bulletins December 29 through January 12, or by calling the church office (684-2535) not later than Tuesday, January 14.
This is another wonderful opportunity for us to work together in Christ for the purpose of helping those in need. 100% of the proceeds will go toward helping others.
What’s the cost?
One quart vegetable beef soup $15
One whole apple pie $15
Thank you for supporting Christian generosity while enjoying a home-cooked meal.
*NOTE: When you finish your soup, please return your quart jars and lids to the church kitchen to be reused another year.
We appreciate the Christmas cards, goodies,
Christmas gifts and kindness you
have shown us. Your thoughtfulness has
been heart warming.

NEWS United Methodist Women—
A Sisterhood of Grace
I hope everyone has recovered from all the wonderful activities of the Advent Season. (Didn’t we have fun at the Waters with our party for the residents there. Sylvia Pinson had everybody ringing bells!) The days are a little longer now, but winter is just getting started. UMW is beginning a new season too. Please join us at our next general meeting on Tuesday, January 14, at 11:00. (Executive Committee will meet at 10:15 in the Quest Class.) Trish Hubbard will introduce our reading material for the year, and our new officers will be installed. Lunch will be provided by the Committee. Circle 7 has the response moment, and Circle 6 has the prayer calendar.
My time as president of our organization is winding down; this will be my last newsletter. Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you who have made my time as president so easy. My fellow officers and the presidents of the three circles have been willing to confront any challenges that have come our way. All of us have fed many people both literally and figuratively, and we are not finished yet! Our goal now is to take our organization into its 151st year and to help our church celebrate its 200th year! I know we will accept the challenge and give it our very best effort. Thank you again for the privilege of being your president.

beautiful Nineveh beginning

will be the prophet, Jonah. This tour will last
six Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30.
If you are interested in learning more than
just Jonah’s big fish tale, please let
Rheaetta Wilson know so she can order you
a guidebook by Dr. Sandra Richter.
Looking forward to
our first Bible study of 2020.

Christmas Dinner and Gift Giving
A Huge SUCCESS!
Thanks to the Board of Governors,
the greatest cooks in the world, our church
members, and the most faithful and truly
dedicated servers I’ve ever known, SCSK’s
Christmas Celebration was a tremendous
success!! God provided more than 175
guests, including nearly 40 children to
participate in a smile-filled, happy evening.
All the children received age appropriate
toys, with face painting, a photography
booth for pictures with pictures with Santa
that were printed on the spot. The food
was scrumptious and nothing was left over.
Special thanks to Rebecca Baker, who was
our planner and facilitator for the event!
God was pleased to see the smiles and all of
the glory, honor, and the praise belong to
Him!
