Hello!

A New Decade!

Projections Say Housing Market to Stay Stable!

If you’re like me, you have a certain uneasiness simply due to our current national and world situation. News about the coronavirus seems to saturate everything. I even pondered if I should include it in this edition of our newsletter. Fact is, virtually all industries are being affected.

Good News

I shared an interesting article on the TCB Facebook page that was just published in 5280 Magazine. It reports that regional experts project that our markets should at least

remain stable, if not increase a bit. While we still have much to do to be vigilant, at least there is good news on the horizon.

In the meantime, let’s all continue that vigilance to stay healthy and look forward to the current sitatuion finally resolving.

Against the backdrop of new cautions about face-to-face gatherings, the pandemic has begun to shape how agents are meeting with colleagues, clients and simply conducting business. The good news is that we have technology at our fingertips to help during this time. Of course, the cell phone is the main player. Sharing of messages, photos and live video calls (such as Apple’s Facetime) are great tools.

Video sharing and conferencing, while a bit more structured, can also help. While some online sources say there’s a lot about real estate that’s “business as

usual,” there’s also commentary that, at least somewhat, some usual methods have been replaced with technology. It will be very interesting to study the impact of this once the pandemic crisis has abated. Perhaps this imposed use of technology will leave us all with more tools at our disposal to call upon when the situation demands it.

Denver

Fun Fact

To say Elvis Presley was larger than life is to state the obvious. But it’s certainly a great story that, in the 1970s, Elvis visited the Mile High City, and expressed his gratitude to members of the Denver Police Department in a “larger than life” way.

Various accounts describe how Elvis was so grateful for the personal protection they provided him, he bought them cars—Cadillacs and Lincolns, to be exact. The vehicles were offered to the officers on their own personal time (helping diffuse legal questions about such amazing gifts). One thing is certain—those lucky members of the Denver PD surely never forgot their encounter with the King!

“Larry, you really need to look into getting a Transaction Coordinator.”

Practical Strategies

Several online articles have highlighted strategies agents are taking during this time when cold and flu season is still with us, let alone all the pandemic

concerns. Practical tips cited include passing out mini packets of hand sanitizer during tours, and budgeting time to wipe down handles, doorknobs and similar surfaces before/after showings. Don’t be afraid of greeting people with the “elbow bump” and similar precautionary tactics. Everyone will collectively appreciate your concern and care.
