*Call to Worship
Leader: I love the Lord, because God has heard my voice and my supplication. People: Because God heard me, therefore I will call on God as long as I live. Leader: Gracious is the Lord and righteous; our God is merciful. People: What shall I render to the Lord for all God’s bounty to me? Leader: I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. People: I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all the peoples. Praise the Lord!
*Opening Prayer
Lord our God, in Jesus Christ you have taught us that love is the fulfilling of the law. Send your Holy Spirit upon us, and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, that we may love you with our whole being, and our neighbors as ourselves; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in unity with the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. *Opening Hymn 643 Now Thank We All Our God NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, you have given us so much— all that we need, your hand has provided. You have blessed us with skills and talents, intending that we use them for the sake of others, to your glory. But we have failed to give as we ought, and have guarded for ourselves that which you have called us to share with others. Forgive our selfish ways, and by your good Spirit enable us gladly to serve you by serving others; through Jesus Christ our Lord. (silence for reflection)

*Affirmation of Faith from A Brief Statement of Faith
In everlasting love, the God of Abraham and Sarah chose a covenant people to bless all families of the earth. Hearing their cry, God delivered the children of Israel from the house of bondage. Loving us still, God makes us heirs with Christ of the covenant. Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child, like a father who runs to welcome the prodigal home, God is faithful still.
