SPAIN AND SUNNY COSTA DEL SOL - MARCH 2019:

DOMINO’S PIZZA – JULY CHAMBER BUSINESS OF THE MONTH The Domino’s Pizza in Los Osos has been locally owned and operated since it was bought by my wife (Brenda) in 1989. Brenda started working at the Lompoc Domino’s in 1983 and was offered to work in the Los Osos Domino’s in 1988. In 1989, the Los Osos location was up for sale and was purchased by Brenda. While I was attending Cal Poly in 1990, I met Brenda and was immediately attracted to the owner of a pizza restaurant…I mean my future wife. In 1994, we were married and I moved to live with her in Los Osos. In 1995, we had our first child Brandon and in 1998, our second child Kyle. Domino’s became a true family operation with the kids growing up around the store and eventually working with us and running the store. We have enjoyed running the day to

day operations of this business over the last 29 years and look forward to many

AUTHORIZED OVERNIGHT PARKING LOS OSOS, CA – With rising rental costs, more and more Los Osos residents are losing their homes and so the number of people we have sleeping in vehicles is going up. Many of these are long time residents who are seniors or disabled -

there are also some families. Both Santa Barbara and Palo Alto have successful programs which provide authorized overnight parking spaces in business and church parking lots that are otherwise only used during the day. Participants in the program undergo background checks, have to have their vehicles insured and registered, and agree to abide by guidelines which ensure that they are good neighbors. They are assigned to a specific parking space for overnight only and have to leave (and not hang around) during the day. Los Osos Cares and St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church would like to try this program in Los Osos so that our unhoused neighbors can have authorized places to sleep without worrying that they are being a nuisance to those around them. In order for this to happen we need one volunteer to act as a program manager, and others to take on coach/mentor roles to help participants find permanent housing. We also need businesses and churches willing to have a few people stay overnight in their lot. You are invited to a community meeting on August 28th at 6pm at Sea Pines, chaired by Supervisor Bruce Gibson, to hear more about the Santa Barbara program and get your questions answered.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO WITH AN INHERITED IRA? Individual Retirement Accounts, or IRAs, are quite popular – which means you might inherit one someday. But what should you do with it? First, be aware that you will be required to take at least minimum distributions each year. Depending on what type of IRA you’ve inherited, these amounts may be taxable, so before you start accepting them, consult with your tax advisor. Of course, you could take out more

than the required minimum and use the extra money to help with your other investment goals, but again, you’ll need to consider tax consequences. Also, you are free to change the investments within your inherited IRA to fit more closely with your risk tolerance, time horizon and long-term goals. Finally, you may want to consult with a financial professional to determine how your newly inherited IRA fits in to your overall financial strategy.

For example, the added income from required distributions could change your retirement calculations. To respect your inheritance, you’ll want to get the most out of your IRA for as long as you can – so think carefully about what steps to take.

DIGNITY MEMORIAL - PREARRANGEMENT INFORMATION What is Prearrangement? Prearrangement is planning today for tomorrow’s funeral, cremation and cemetery needs. According to the latest statistics, 32%, or approximately twenty-one million Americans age 50

and over have prepaid some or all of their funeral/burial expenses. There is no guarantee that regular life or medical insurance proceeds will not be consumed by a long illness or a serious accident. Life insurance cannot

make the many decisions at the time of need. Prearrangement does all of this- and it leaves the life insurance untouched for the living. Planning funeral and cemetery arrangements

today is widely considered a component of estate planning. The Benefits of Prearranging a Complete Funeral or Cremation: • Locking in the price of the goods and services selected at today’s price• Eases the future financial burden on your surviving loved ones.• Objective decisions about final arrangements can be made calmly and rationally together as a family rather than during an emotionally difficult and stressful time after a death has occurred. • Making these decisions well in advance of need also provides families with the ability to avoid unnecessary confusion and financial difficulties after the death of a loved one.

Savings: Because the prearrangement is price-protected, the merchandise and services selected today will never cost more.National Transferability: With Dignity Memorial, prearranged services are fully transferable and will be honored by any Dignity Memorial provider within the network of Dignity Memorial funeral and cremation providers throughout the United States and Canada. Should you move more than 75 miles from where you made your original advance arrangements were made, your prearranged funeral services are fully transferable and will be honored by any Dignity Memorial provider.Travel Relocation Protection Program: Options are available to provide

transportation and arrangements if death were to occur more than 75 miles away from home – anywhere in the world. Finally, knowing your wishes were made in advance can bring great comfort to surviving family members and friends. Prearranging your funeral or cremation service is a decision that only you can make. But it’s a choice that will affect all of the people you love and who love you most. Please speak with your local Dignity Memorial provider for more information about your prearrangement options.
