ABOUT THE PROGRAM Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE), has for the last decade gradually changed the practice of development and procurement of complex technical systems. Wisely used, MBSE contains a significant potential for improving the quality and efficiency of systems engineering, but it comes with a steep learning curve. The 1st Nordic School on Model Based Systems Engineering is a modular education program consisting of four two-day short courses conducted October to December 2015 in Stockholm, Sweden.

FIGURE 1. OVERVIEW OF THE FIRST NORDIC SCHOOL ON MBSE.

MODULAR DESIGN The modular design of the school intends to target different audiences and pinpoint their individual needs. Several combinations of course modules stretching from two to eight days are available. This school is equally suitable for organizational leaders, project managers, and engineers wishing to learn more how MBSE can leverage your development organization, and how to put it into useful practice. Each course module combines interactive classes with group exercises and discussions. Theory, frameworks, and standards are made explicit using real world examples and best practise.

CREATE YOUR OWN UNIQUE COMPETENCE PATH The four modular short courses gives you a solid start to understand what MBSE is and how it can be managed in practice. You will also learn how to apply SysML – The Systems Modeling Language – to describe your requirements or your systems architecture. Together, the four course modules addresses MBSE from different perspectives and conveys a good insight in both the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice of MBSE.

LEARNING OUTCOMES The unique modular approach of the Nordic MBSE School empowers you to choose your individual outcome by selecting your individual learning path. As the modular course modules are designed to work stand-alone as well as in different constellations they provide an alternative for a broad target group of current and future MBSE practitioners and leaders.
