Hi! We are Matt & Melanie, and we would like to thank you for taking some of your time to learn more about us.

Like most couples in the 21st century, we met on Match.com in 2013. We immediately started dating after we met and the rest is history. Matt proposed in 2015, in April of 2016 we got married on the beach surrounded by our family, and in 2017 we bought our first house together and turned it into a home!

We can’t wait to start our family, and we are very excited to be on this adoption journey as we can’t wait to grow our family. As you read, please know that we have an enormous amount of respect for you and your decision to consider an adoption plan. We hope this profile gives you an accurate picture of our lives and all the information you need to make an informed decision!

Our Story

Matt grew up in Maryland with a very large (and fun) close-knit family. Growing up, he spent most of his time playing sports and visiting his grandparents at the beach, where they would do water activities, play mini golf, and make a daily dairy queen trip.

As he grew older, Matt continued to excel at sports and eventually focused on basketball where he was given an opportunity to play in college. He now works in sales, which allows him to spend a substantial amount of time working from home.

Kids seem to adore Matt – as he can mesmerize them with his eyebrows and funny facial expressions. He can’t wait to play outside with this child and teach them to lead a healthy and active lifestyle!

Our StoryAbout Melanie

Melanie grew up in the Florida panhandle with a small but silly family. Growing up, she was admittedly a nerd. She was often involved in the science fair, math team, and loved (and still loves) learning!

As she grew older, Melanie continued to excel at school and ultimately graduated law school at the top of her class. She now works a lawyer. She loves her job because she gets to help people on a daily basis while allowing her to have a flexible schedule.

Melanie can’t wait to be a mother. She is excited about getting to play and help this child to be excited about this world and all there is to learn!

Our Home

We bought our home with the idea of growing our family in mind. Melanie grew up with a swimming pool and loved nothing more than birthday pool parties, so you can say that having a pool was a priority for us. We can’t wait to swim and enjoy the summer weather when the time of year comes around.

Our neighborhood is very family friendly and safe. Our neighbors are wonderful, and there are always people out walking, biking, and playing with their children and animals. We walk our dachshund almost nightly and look forward to doing this with children. We are located in an excellent school district, and we’re close to a YMCA which we hope to enjoy as a growing family.

We live in Tampa and love living the “city-life.” We love having easy access to the theme parks, professional sporting events, downtown events, concerts and shows, parks, and a short ride to the beaches. The city has so much to offer!

Matt’s parents are still in Maryland, with his siblings and our awesome six-year-old niece. Despite being spread out across the country, Matt’s family never fails to get together for big events like weddings or family reunions, everyone shows up, and it is always a great time!

Melanie’s parents are in Texas, along with her sister and our other awesome two-year-old niece. Even though she is only two, she already knows how to call us when she wants to - and lets us know that we better answer! It’s been such a joy getting to watch our nieces grow up, and we can’t wait to see them play with this child.

Two of our biggest family traditions are Thanksgiving and Christmas. For Thanksgiving, we usually have a big meal that we share with Melanie’s family where the entire day is filled with laughter, football, board games, and food. Christmas is spent with Matt’s family, which means spending time together in pajamas, holiday movies, and watching our niece open Christmas presents on Christmas morning!

Melanie grew up in a tourist town and loves “touristy” activities, which took Matt some time to get used to, but he inevitably came around! We love going to the famous Florida attractions like Universal Studios, Disney, Busch Gardens, and NASA. Florida also has a great farming culture, so the state fair and the Strawberry Festival are great places to spend a Saturday when they are in town. Neither of us got to do much traveling when we were growing up, so we try to make that a priority now. Summer vacation is very important to us, and every year we make it a point to take a week-long trip somewhere new.

We love the holidays! Every New Year’s Eve we follow the southern tradition of eating Black Eyed Peas and collard greens. Since we moved to Tampa, we also celebrate Gasparilla and can’t wait to take a little one to the children’s parade! Halloween is a blast! We used to love dressing up and going to parties, but now that we have a house – it is so much fun to watch the kids trick or treating, we can’t wait to take our little one trick or treating as well. We can’t wait to introduce a child to these experiences!
