Presidents Report
This will be a short report. Things have been pretty quiet.
I’m sure the heat is probably keeping every one inside.
We are steaidly getting things ready for the fall show at the
Markets of Marion. We still need a coordinator for the
southwestern region.
We also need a newsletter editor. Stan is doing a great job
but he has a lot on his plate. The staff meeting July
8th at the Cracker-Barrel in Lake City went well. Stan will be
posting the Minutes from the meeting elsewhere in this
newsletter.
We need volunteers for the fall show. Please contact Dave
Thomas or Lindsay Orr if you would like to volunteer and
help with the fall show or the winter rally in February.
Our club Treasure Mike Roberts was not able to attend the
meeting and he will probably be mad at me but I would like
club members to be thinking about Mike as he has had some
health issues. Keep him in your prayers.
Please remember to pray for our troops.
Dave.

Minutes From July Board Meeting
First Florida Chapter – MVPA
Topics – Fall Show & Winter Rally Planning, and official .vs. unofficial events
Date: 8 July, 2017 (Planning)
Location: Cracker Barrel, Lake City, FL.
1. After meeting for lunch at 11:00am, the Planning meeting was called to order at 12:20pm by
Chapter President Dave Thomas.
President’s Report:
1. Dave Thomas stated that the meeting’s sole goal was to focus on the FFC’s upcoming 2017 Fall
Show and the 2018 Winter Rally.
2. A Steampunk band was accidentally scheduled to use the stage on Friday evening during our
2017 Winter Rally—But; those from the FFC who remained on site enjoyed the performance,
and the performers enjoyed what they saw of our rally. We will contact Renninger’s, asking that
they offer the band to come again during our 2018 Rally.
3. WWII Armor (the organization with the tanks) was in attendance to help with the planning. For
2018, there must be better coordination with the reenactors who are not already affiliated with
WWII Armor. Also—WWII Armor will provide security for their equipment and vehicles.
4. See below for policy on official FFC-MVPA events and unofficial events.
Vice President / Rally Coordinator / Public Relations Coordinator:
1. Winter Rally sponsors have been identified, others are being sought.
2. Shirt design is underway.
3. A hotel is being sought that will offer a special rate for attendees.
Secretary’s Report:
1. As always—The updating the roster as new member information is received by the Secretary
continues.
2. The Newsletter editor position is open. In the interim, the Secretary will draft the newsletter in
this format. Articles and information from members, to be included in the next issue, are always
requested.
3. Copies of the current roster were provided to Officers and Area Coordinators present, with a re-
quest to let the Secretary know of any needed corrections.
A SPECIAL REQUEST FROM THE SECRETARY Since becoming Secretary, my wife and I have
worked the registration table at the Winter Rally. In 2019, my wife and I will not be
available for the Winter Rally. I am requesting a member or two to volunteer to work with us in
2018 with an eye on working the table in 2019. I will still do all the preliminary work for 2019,
but will have to pass the baton a week before the event.
Treasurer’s Report: None at this meeting
The Southern Outpost - Summer 2017 Page 4
- continued -
Area Coordinator Reports:
Russell Deese, with member Dan Simmons, reported on the 2017 Florida Forest Festival Parade and
Exhibition to be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Perry, FL.
New Business: While each of us is free to participate is any event we choose, members are cautioned
against implying they represent the FFC or the overall MVPA. We are members of these organizations,
but not representatives. Further, it is inappropriate AND incorrect to tell any organizer of an event that
by being a FFC or MVPA member you are automatically covered under the MVPA policy. The MVPA
policy covers current members at MVPA or MVPA Chapter events, and events where an event-specific
insurance rider has been provided when requested by the organizer—a city’s parade is such an event
that typically requires the rider.
Please note the word “current members” above—members who are not current with their dues are not
“current” and would not be covered. MVPA or MVPA Chapter membership is acceptable for the insur-
ance. Any member coordinating an event requiring insurance is cautioned to ensure all the participants
are in fact current members.
The meeting adjourned at 13:25p.m.
Minutes prepared and submitted by:
_______/S/_____________________/_8 February, 2017_____
Stan A. Kinmonth
FFC-MVPA Secretary
Subsequent to the July 8 meeting, Michael Roberts informed the officers that his health is impacting his
normal life. Between therapy and other issues, he has reluctantly indicated he is unable to devote the
time and attention needed to adequately perform the Treasurer’s duties. The president, Vice president,
and Secretary discussed the situation and agreed that Secretary Stan Kinmonth will assume the
Treasurer’s role immediately, on an interim basis. Since all members and vendors forward their checks
to the Secretary anyway, and he then records and deposits virtually all of the incoming funds, assuming
the Treasurer role seemed the natural thing to do.
