FPS District Topic: Processed Foods (repeated at 1:15PM) Carroll Ford Room - 2nd Floor Kirk Barnett, Russell High School Academic Team Coach and Governor’s Cup Camp instructor for FPS Whether you dine out on a fast food burger or fine dining veal bolognese, and no matter which aisle you go down at the grocery store, almost all the food we now encounter is processed in some way. Processed foods are cheaper, have longer shelf life, and can be fortified with extra minerals, vitamins, and nutrients to “boost” our diet. However, do we really know what we are taking into our bodies? Do artificial flavors, artificial colors, and preservatives work together to make our food an elaborate chemistry experiment? Come join our discussion of Processed Foods and their impacts upon human health and the economy—you’ll never look at your dinner plate the same again! Academic Team – Teaming Beyond Students Breathitt Room - 2nd Floor Jeff Castle, Assistant Superintendent / Chief Academic Officer, Jessamine County Schools A successful academic team experience relies heavily on the development of a team, right? But have you considered the other members of your team, once you decide on student participants? This session will help attendees to determine stakeholder participation so that the coach doesn't have to shoulder the entire burden of building a successful academic team.
