MODERATOR’S MOMENT

Although it would be easy to bask in the afterglow of our Palm Sun-day, Maundy Thursday, and Easter worship experiences, we must move for-ward to even more exciting times in the life of our congregation. The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held immediately follow-ing worship on April 30. Please take time to study the proposed budget for 2017-2018 and the ballot of nominees for officers and leadership positions. These items will be presented for the congregation’s discussion and approv-al. In addition, each Ministry Team will give a brief summary of this year’s ac-tivities. Steve Martin and Renee Bridwell of the Regional Staff will be filling the pulpit on April 23 and April 30. I encourage you to be present to support them. Pastor Lorraine Bailey will begin her duties as our Transitional Minister on May 2. Her first Sunday service will be May 7. Please make a special effort to be present on that Sunday as we welcome Pastor Lorraine. Following wor-ship, we will adjourn to Fellowship Hall for a covered-dish dinner. Please bring something good to eat and your own table service for a time of fellow-ship with one another and Pastor Lorraine. I am already feeling a sense of renewed energy as we look forward to our period of transition in cooperation with the Kansas Region, Disciples of Christ. We owe Pastor David Webb a debt of gratitude for preparing us for this new adventure. Attendance and Giving Record

So far in April we have helped 19 families con-sisting of 57 people with 24 bags of food plus 14 dozen eggs. Voices of people you have helped this month: “My disability check just doesn’t go as far as it used to.” Thanks to all who donate to the pantry. It really helps. When you are out shopping and find something on sale, why not pick up a couple (or a dozen) cans to donate. We always can use vegetables, fruit, peanut butter, crackers, instant oatmeal packets and Ramen Noodles.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, “I know what the Bible stands for!” His father smiled and replied, “What do you mean, you ‘know’ what the Bible stands for?” The son replied, “I do know!” “Okay”, said his father, “What does the Bible stand for?” “That’s easy, Daddy…” the young boy replied excitedly, “It stand for ‘Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.”
