From the Pastor Heavy Hearts Life really is a ride, isn’t it? Sometimes we

are on the smooth road; other times, we get the bad

roads. When we are on those difficult roads,

sometimes it’s easy to begin to ask ourselves, “What

could possibly happen next”? It’s a dangerous

question to ask.

In one day this week, Winn Parish lost a 43

year old man to cancer, a 3 year old boy to a tragic

accident, and an 81 year old gentleman surrounded

by family and loved ones. For the families, these are

challenging days. As Christians, what do we say to

them? How can we give them hope when all hope is

seemingly gone?

We do what we are always called to do: we

point them toward Jesus! In a phone conversation the

other day, a gentleman asked me what I would say to

someone who was mad at God for a horrible loss this

person had suffered. My first comment would

probably be, “God can handle it. Go ahead and get it

out”.

But right after that, I hope I would say,

“This is the reason scripture so often speaks about

faith and trust.” Think about it. “Trust in the Lord

with all your heart and lean not on your own

understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5

-6) Lean…not…on…your…own…understanding.

“Lord, I don’t know why my _______ (dad,

mom, son, daughter, grandparent, etc.) had to suffer

and die. I don’t understand.” Lean not on your own

understanding.

“Lord, this trial I’m going through doesn’t

make sense to me.” Lean not on your own

understanding.

“Lord, why do people have to hurt so

much?” Lean not on your own understanding.

“Lord, I’m so limited in what I can

understand.” Lean not on your own understanding.

If you know someone who is hurting today,

or if you are hurting, I hope the message is clear. We

were not built to understand everything. If we had

been, we would have no need for God. But He made

us to be dependent on Him!

In closing, please consider the words to a

chorus made popular in the 1980’s: “So when you

don’t understand, when you don’t see His plan, when

you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart.”

Education Ministry This week in Experiencing God...

What a thought-provoking, mind

expanding, life changing study this is!

During the past week our class was

focused on the body of Christ - His church.

Through the Bible study and Dr.

Blackaby’s personal illustrations, I have

come to a new appreciation of our church

family. I have learned that God Himself

brings a body of believers together to form

His local body. That’s right! He

orchestrates every staff member and

church member’s incorporation into our

church. He does so with a distinct plan for

every member to function for Him as His

body with Christ as the head.

The faithful attenders, occasional

attenders, and even the non-attenders have

a kingdom assignment. If all are in an

intimate relationship with Christ, all can

fulfill the job they have been given. The

body functions properly and is healthy. It

accomplishes much for the Kingdom.

If even one member is not in that

close relationship with the Father, the body

does not function at its optimum capacity.

It is easily compared to our own human

body. One toothache can disrupt our

effectiveness. One sore toe can put us in

the recliner with that toe elevated.

Our goal should be to love every

member as each one plays a vital kingdom

role. Our job should be to stay in an

intimate relationship with our God in order

to see where He is working, then wait for

an invitation to join Him. We must also

never be a stumbling block to any

member.

As God has placed each member

here, He has already determined their

importance to His kingdom. It takes each

one of us to be the church God intends us

to be.

See you in Sunday School,

Theresa

Restoring God's House

Financial Update

Work continues on our renovation

project and is ahead of schedule.

Our receipts for Restoring God's

House were up this week and all

members are encouraged to contin-

ue to pray about what God would

have you do toward this restora-

tion. Our funding committee

group is planning a church wide

fellowship for Saturday afternoon,

April 26th, on the church parking

lot to work on our fellowship res-

toration. We will have balloons,

face painting, jumpers for the kids,

musical entertainment along with

hotdogs and other refreshments.

Be sure to bring your lawn chairs

and join the fellowship as we will

have something for everyone. We

will also have a big black pot on

site for contributions to the restora-

tion fund, so please come and par-

ticipate.

Youth Ministry

We had a great D-Now weekend!

The students learned more about what it

means to hit PAUSE in their lives and

focus more on their relationships with

Jesus Christ, and they also had a fun time

of fellowship and great food!

I want to extend many heartfelt

thanks to everyone who participated in

any way with D-Now. Thanks so much to

all the students for being on your best be-

havior. Thanks so much to the Ricky &

Theresa Hendrix, Andy & Lisa Kepper,

Jerry & Lisa Price, LC & Sharon Barnett,

and Jerry & Denise Hebert for serving as

host homes. Thanks so much to Drew

Kepper, Michael Clark, Melanie Bartlett,

Kristen Walker, Denise Hebert, and my

friend Brady Stewart for leading the small

group lessons. Thanks so much to Alice

Ann Brockner for getting and preparing

the food for the banquet, and thanks to

everyone who helped serve and clean up.

I had a wonderful time this week-

end, and I appreciate all the support we

got from our church congregation.

Colin.
