First Aid (Patient Care) e-learning course - Instructions

Login and Account Setup - CAS

Before you start working with SW Moodle, please check the

Central Authentication Service (CAS) web page

(https://ldap1.cuni.cz/en) and make sure the following

details were set up:

Username:

is on your student card

you got it in the registration office and it is used to enter

the Study Information System (SIS)

https://is.cuni.cz/studium/eng/

Password:

is the same as for the SIS

the temporary password you got from the office (at the

beginning of the 1st year) has to be changed before you

start working with SW Moodle

your e-mail address has to be entered and validated

It is not possible to work with SW Moodle if your e-

mail address is not available at CAS

Web browser

Use the Mozilla Firefox Web Browser to work

with e-learning. SW can be downloaded for free. You can

find a direct link at the beginning of the First Aid or Patient

Care course.

SW Moodle is optimized for it

Using a different Web Browser can result in “not saving

the activities you have already completed”

An activity that is not saved in the system cannot be

accepted as completed, thus you will not receive a

grade!!!

Pre-Class Learning You are expected to get basic knowledge before coming for the training skills session by completing an appropriate part of the e-learning First Aid

or Patient Care course

The instruction regarding the deadline each part of the

course has to be completed can be found at the beginning

of each part

2) to test your knowledge

the test can be repeated, however your result needs to be at least 80% before the deadline (if the required result is not reached before the deadline

you are considered to be unprepared for skills training!)

if you need to improve your average overall score (the score for the whole course) you can complete your test as many times as you need

even after the deadline. Your best result will be used to count your average overall score

you can check what you learnt (before the test) by

playing flash cards - the question is on one side of the

card and the right answer on the opposite side

you have to check your knowledge by completing the

on-line test (at least 80% is required before deadline)

The test for each part can be started only after all compulsory resources have been completed!!

The link to the test brings you to a page where you can see basic information about

the test

Opening date and time – you are not able to start

test sooner even if your resources are completed

Highest grade means you can complete your test even after deadline as many time as you

need, your best result will be used to count your average overall score for whole course

3) to choose and register for 1 skills training session in each part of the course

there are usually about 10-12 skills training sessions for each part of the course (5-6 every week)

you need to register only for one session

the deadline for registration can be found at the beginning of each part of the course

registration can be entered only after you have reached the required grade in the appropriate test

Skills training sessions

you will be practicing implementing a learnt theory into practice

you will work in pairs or very small groups

you are required to come at least 10 minutes before the session starts!! Late arrival will result in decreased grade!!

please note as well that the skills trainig is the most important part of the whole subject. If you miss any session you are required

to come for open labs at the end of semester

to write an essay (at least 1,000 words; the topic will be given)

Credits Credits are awarded under the following conditions:

Completed requirements for the Pre-Class Learning use all resources and complete all tests, including the final on-line test (part 7)

100% skills training attendance (and adequate performance) If you miss any skills training session, you´ll have to

attend Open labs at the end of semester the registration is available in part 7 of the e-learning course

and to write an Essay at least 1,000 words deadline for submission can be found at the beginning of each part of the course topic will be given by teacher and can be checked in “Grades” use template available at the beginning of each e-learning course all essays (if needed) have to be uploaded and accepted before the

practical exam

Overall score of e-learning course 80% or more can be checked in “Grades”

Successfully completed practical exam you can register (part 7) for the practical exam only after you fulfil all the

requirements If you feel you need to practice more before your practical exam, please

register for open labs

you can see everything what can be scored, your grades, feedback, topics for essays (only if you missed any skills training session or your average is

too low) and your average score
