Santa and Mrs. Claus found their way to the PK U.S.A. Breakfast with Santa event at Indiana Grand Racing. An amazing breakfast was served up to PK Associates and their families. Silly Safaris brought in animals of all sorts for both young and old to enjoy, and facepainting artists decorated many faces during the event. The morning was topped off by a visit with Old Saint Nick and Mrs. Claus. Young and old alike gave Santa some ideas for gifts they may like to see under their tree! Memories made and photos taken, a wonderful way to round out a wonderful 2019. 2020 is sure to be a great year at PK U.S.A.

Thank you very much for the introduction and good afternoon. My name is Bill Kent and I currently serve as a Corporate Officer and the Vice President of Corporate Relations for PK USA.

Located in Shelbyville Indiana, Gallatin TN and Senatobia MS PK USA is a Japanese Transplant. We are an automotive supplier with annual sales of approximately $181 million. Shelbyville is our Corporate Headquarters for our North American Operations. We have been in Indiana and in production for over 30 years.

PK U.S.A., Inc. employs 600 team members in North America. We are a primary supplier of metal body parts, axle – related parts and plastic injection parts for automotive companies in the United States as well as other parts of the world. Nissan is our largest customer and accounts for 45% of our business. Other customers include DANA Corporation, Toyota and Subaru. Through DANA we are now doing work for the BIG 3 which includes the Chrysler Jeep Wrangler and the soon to be released Ford Bronco.

Our relationship with John and Valarie Bundy goes back to the beginning. For ducks have always had special meaning to the Japanese. “Ducks are a symbol of good luck and prosperity in the Asian culture.” And what a perfect way to introduce Indiana to Asian officials with a gift of an Indiana born duck decoy.Thirty some years ago, then Gov. Robert Orr began courting Asian investment into Indiana. The Bundy’s were commissioned to create ducks to welcome our new friends from the Far East to Hoosier hospitality. This was a critical mission since the 1981-82 recession crushed Indiana’s automobile-related manufacturers, who shed jobs by the thousands. Asian automakers were making serious inroads into the U.S. market, so they were looking to build assembly plants. The Governor’s recruiting efforts paid off (with a little help from the Bundy ducks).Today Indiana boasts it is the only one in the nation to have automotive assembly plants from three Japanese automakers – Toyota, Subaru and Honda. And today approximately 320 Japanese manufacturing establishments currently call Indiana home, which employ more than 67,000 Hoosiers.I also want to share with you where else the Bundy Ducks have nested. They have made their way to the home of Indiana native David Letterman, the White House and many points in between. In fact King Abdullah of Jordan owns a decoy made from a fallen tree.In closing, I thank you for attending this celebration today and I thank John Bundy for using his skills and craft for the betterment of Indiana and its residents.

Many of you have in your possession a one-of-a-kind Bundy Duck. As a gift for your longevity at PK U.S.A., Bundy Ducks have been given as a gift of appreciation for over 20 years. Ducks have special meaning to the Japanese, and to we Hoosiers, due in large part, to John Bundy. John has made these ducks, by hand, for over 30 years. His impactful artwork has been revered the world over by officials, kings and you, the PK U.S.A. Associate. Bill Kent assisted in the presentation of the Sagamore of the Wabash Award, an award giving to those who have helped the State of Indiana carry on the business of the state by using their time, talent and profession to help the State and its officials. Below is Bill’s complete presentation. Enjoy!

As you know, one of PK’s benefits for associates who are on PK’s health benefits program is cash rewards for improving or maintaining signs of health. When you have appointments with the Registered Nurses of Wise Health Decisions®, PK’s voluntary wellness program, the RNs measure your weight, blood pressure blood sugar and cholesterol. Why are these measures important? Because these four tests measure your risks for chronic diseases or for existing diseases becoming worse and for you not feeling well. Medical research demonstrates that approximately 70% of chronic

diseases are due to your choices of foods, activity, response to stress and other lifestyle behaviors. In other words, 70% of chronic diseases may be preventable if you choose healthy behaviors. The RNs of Wise Health Decisions® are at PK’s three sites to help associates understand the link between your behaviors and risk for chronic diseases and not feeling well. PK has two incentives or rewards to support your decision to choose healthy behaviors. The first incentive is the Wellness Health Premium, which is less than PK’s Standard Health Premium. If you attend the appointments with the RN with the frequency the RN determines, based upon your biometric tests, you are eligible to pay the lower Wellness Premium for you and your family. The second incentive is awarded two times during the year. A cash incentive is awarded for each of the four tests if you: (1) attend the scheduled appointments during the 6 months, and (2) maintain a test results in the normal range or improve your results by one risk category. There are four categories for each test. For example, if you are in the high-risk category for weight, you only must lose enough weight to put you in the moderate risk category or lose 5% of your weight to earn the cash at the end of 6 months. Ask the RNs what you need to do for each of your tests to earn the cash incentive for each test! Congratulations to all associates who have taken control of one, two, three or four risk factors to prevent chronic diseases that they have control over!

Why would PK pay cash to its associates these past 6 months? First, PK wants their associates to be healthy and well. Well associates feel better, are more productive at work and at home, and can participate in activities they want at work and at home. Secondly, healthy associates contribute to controlled healthcare costs, which are passed on to associates through the lower wellness premium.

Ask the Nurses at your next appointment what you can do to maintain or improve your health, feel well, receive PK’s cash rewards and pay the wellness premium for your health insurance.
