From: Sam Miller - President, IAFF Local 3762 Date: July 23, 2015 Ref: Firefighter Injury PRESS RELEASE ________________________________________________________________________ The Fauquier County Professional Firefighters encourage all members of the community to understand that the recent injuries of firefighters is being handled in the most meticulous and professional manner possible. The investigation is in the infancy stages and any assumptions should be avoided prior to the conclusion of the investigation. The main concern of our Local is the safety of all first responders, and we respect the positive relationships we have harbored with the countys elected officials, county volunteers, and the county administration. Today, several of our members visited with Adam Glaze, the firefighter who is in the burn unit at Washington Medstar Hospital in Washington, D.C. Adams father, Charlie Glaze, a veteran professional firefighter in Washington D.C., informed us that he is progressing well in his recovery. Adam remains incredibly positive and thankful for the outpouring of support from the firefighters and citizens of Fauquier County. His father informed us that he was extremely supportive and confident when he signed the release for his son to act as an interior firefighter. Glaze expressed, If anyone wants to address policies, that’s a separate issue, but the training provided by the county high school program to certify my son as a firefighter provided him the ability to survive a situation that could have been fatal. The extremely qualified instructors ensured my sons survival. As the post incident analysis and investigation unfold, we encourage all members of the community to respect the time and effort needed to conclude this detailed task. Please keep Adam, his family, and all of the public servants in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks and months. Fauquier Professional Fire Fighters Local 3762 P.O. BOX 77 Catlett, VA 20119
