Fire Investigation Officer (Level 2 Cert – Skills for Justice) If your Airport (non aircraft) had a fire, have you the skills required to carry out a fire investigation? Training course to include: • Practical excavation of a real fire scene examination • Guest speaker Fire Investigation Dog Handler The supply of IFE02 – A Guide to Fire Investigation Aims and Objectives The course will develop delegates’ skills and knowledge to enable them to prepare, investigate and report a fire investigation and to communicate / present evidence of findings of the investigation to stakeholders. Units include: LI FI – 01 Preparation LI FI – 02 Investigate LI FI – 03 Report LI FI – 04 Present At the end of the course the delegate will demonstrate: • An understanding of the science, technology and legal issues that informs a fire investigation • A comprehensive understanding of the investigative techniques and the current tools used in fire investigation • The ability to critically evaluate research and methods in the subject of fire investigation • The ability to present evidence related to fire investigations in court and at other hearings. Please note: For this course there will be pre and post study work that will be required to be completed by all attendees. Dates 14th to 18th October 2019 Duration 5 day course to include 1 day practical fire scene investigation. Acceditations Accredited by Skills for Justice Awards. Costs £1,900 + VAT Includes all course materials and five nights accommodation on a full board basis. The certificate from this course may, when successfully completed, be used as ‘Recognised Prior Experiential Learning’ (subject to discussion with the university) towards the BSc (Hons) Fire and Rescue degree, currently offered by the University of Wolverhampton. This degree is available either full time, or part time at the university campus in Wolverhampton, or part time distance learning. It is available in two variants, either the BSc (Hons) Fire and Rescue, or the BSc (Hons) Fire and Rescue Aviation variant.
