Preventive Maintenance
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify the candidate has the ability to perform and document routine tests, inspections, and servicing functions on the systems and components specified in the performance steps, so that the operational status of the vehicle is verified and deficiencies are reported.

Tasks: Verify the operational status of the mobile water supply
apparatus and report any deficiencies.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a mobile water supply apparatus, it’s
manufacturer specifications, maintenance and inspection forms, policies of the jurisdiction, shall perform and document routine tests
so that the listed performance steps are completed.
Equipment Required: mobile water supply apparatus, apparatus manufacturer
specifications, maintenance and inspection forms, policies and procedures of respective
jurisdiction.
Critical Skills are identified by a bold type “C”. Any candidate that fails to complete a critical
skill shall receive an unacceptable completion for the entire Practical Skill Sheet.
Safety: A safety violation is grounds for automatic failure. All proctors present shall review the

SKILL SHEET #2 Serpentine Exercise
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to maneuver a fire department mobile water supply apparatus around obstructions on a roadway while moving forward and in reverse without stopping to change direction of travel and without striking obstructions.
JPR: 4.3.3 NFPA 1002, 2014 Edition
Tasks: Maneuver through obstructions without stopping to change direction of travel or without striking obstructions.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a mobile water supply apparatus, a spotter for backing and a roadway with obstructions, shall maneuver the mobile water supply fire apparatus in forward and reverse so that the performance steps are completed.
Equipment Required: Roadway or driving course, traffic cones, back up spotter, mobile water supply fire apparatus

Alley Dock
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to park the fire department mobile water supply apparatus within a restricted area without having to stop and pull forward and without striking obstructions.
JPR: 4.3.2 NFPA 1002, 2014 Edition
Tasks: Park the fire apparatus within a restricted area, without readjusting or striking obstructions.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a mobile water supply fire apparatus, a spotter and restricted space, shall back the apparatus from the roadway into the restricted space so that the vehicle is parked within the area without having to stop and pull forward and without striking obstructions.
Equipment Required: fire department mobile water supply apparatus, restricted space, traffic cones, back up spotter

Diminishing Clearance
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to move a fire department mobile water supply apparatus through areas of restricted horizontal and vertical clearances so that he or she accurately judges the ability of the vehicle to pass through the openings and so that no obstructions are struck.

Tasks: Move a fire department mobile water supply apparatus through areas of restricted horizontal and vertical clearances.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a fire department mobile water supply apparatus and a course of restricted horizontal and vertical clearances, shall maneuver a fire apparatus so that the performance steps below are completed.
Equipment Required: fire department mobile water supply apparatus, course with horizontal and vertical restricted clearance (props with a crossbar that can be placed at various heights can be used for vertical clearance skill training)

Confined Space Turn Around
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to turn the mobile water supply apparatus 180 degrees within a confined space so that the apparatus is successfully turned without striking obstacles in the given space.
JPR: 4.3.4 NFPA 1002, 2014 Edition
Tasks: Turn a fire department mobile water supply apparatus 180 degrees within a confined space.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a fire department mobile water supply apparatus and a confined area that requires the apparatus to be turned 180 degrees and a back up spotter, shall execute the task so that the listed performance steps are completed.
Equipment Required: fire department mobile water supply apparatus, restricted area, traffic cones, back up spotter

Driving Operations/Response
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to operate a fire department mobile water supply apparatus on a public way or predetermined route that incorporates the maneuvers and features as specified in the performance steps listed that the driver/operator is expected to encounter during normal and emergency operations so that the vehicle is operated in compliance with all applicable state and local laws and departmental rules and regulations.

Tasks: Operate a mobile water supply apparatus in compliance with applicable state and local laws and departmental rules and regulations.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a fire apparatus and a predetermined route on a public way or driving course that incorporates the maneuvers and features the driver operation is expected to encounter, shall operate the fire apparatus so that the listed performance steps are completed. NOTES TO INSTRUCTOR: The instructor should evaluate an area in the departments jurisdiction which can expose the students to the elements listed below. If the department’s jurisdiction does not have one of the listed features (i.e. railroad crossing), it is acceptable to omit that part of the scenario and adjust the students score accordingly

Position Apparatus at Water Shuttle Fill Site
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to correctly maneuver and position the mobile water supply apparatus at the water shuttle fill site, given a fill site location and one or more supply hose so that hose is attached to the intake connections without having to stretch additional hose, and no objects are struck at the fill site.

Position Apparatus at Water Shuttle Dump Site
Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to maneuver and correctly position the mobile water supply apparatus at the water shuttle dump site, so that all of the water being discharged from the apparatus enters the portable tank and no objects are struck at the dump site.
JPR: 10.2.2 NFPA 1002, 2014 Edition
Tasks: Correctly position mobile water supply apparatus at water shuttle dump site so that water is discharged into the portable tank and no objects are struck at the dump site.
Instructor’s Statement
The candidate, given a mobile water supply apparatus, a dump site and portable water tank shall correctly position the apparatus and discharge water so that the performance steps are completed.
Equipment Required: mobile water supply apparatus, dump site, portable water tank, traffic cones.

Performance Evaluation: The evaluator shall verify that the candidate has the ability to establish a water shuttle site, given two or more portable tanks, low level strainers, water transfer equipment, fire hose and a mobile water supply apparatus equipped with a pump, so that the tank being drafted from is kept full at all times, the tank being dumped into is emptied first, and the water is transferred from one tank to the next.

Tasks: Use a mobile water supply apparatus to efficiently transfer water from one tank to the next at a water shuttle fill site.
Instructor’s Statement
