1.0 INTRODUCTION This document describes steps on how to setup transaction types to be used by channels

adopted by an institution.

2.0 STEP BY STEP GUIDLINE

Initiate Management Operations

There are basically 2 main operations that occur in this management.

a. Addition of new transaction type parameters

b. Edit of existing transaction type parameters

The steps to follow are as below:

1. On loading of the module you get the below dashboard.

The “Management” button is to take you to the main view for doing your

operation.

The “Refresh” button is to cancel all the actions done and start all over the

process.

2. Click Management Button

The below screen will load. The screen will display the following items:

a. List of currently configured transaction types parameters

b. Management operations buttons (New, Edit, Save) used to determine which

operation the user wants to perform.

c. Transaction Details panel where the actual inputs of the parameters will be done.

Go to Appendix 1 to view the explanation of the different input fields available.

3. In the case of Adding a new transaction type parameter, perform the below:

Press the “New” button to activate the parameter input parameters.

Input your parameter details

Once confirmed, click save to commit the parameters for authorization.

4. In the case of editing an existing transaction type parameter, perform the below:

On the transaction type list grid, select the transaction you would like to edit.

The details will populate on the transaction type details panel

Make the necessary adjustments

Once confirmed, click save to commit the updated parameters for

authorization.

5. On successful Save, the below confirmation is provided.

Authorize Management Operations

On Authorization there are two main statuses:

a. Approve

b. Reject

The steps to follow are as below:

1. On loading of authorization module, you will find the below dashboard

The “Authorization” button will load all parameters pending authorization

The “Refresh” button is to cancel all the actions done and start all over the

process.

2. Click Authorization button.

A search popup panel will appear with some details of the parameters pending

authorization.

3. Select the parameter to authorize. The details will populate in the transaction details

panel for viewing before authorizing.

A label will appear next to the authorization panel acting as extra information on the

exact operation done by the initiator. The label will be in RED.

The remarks of the initiator will also appear on the “action remarks” input.

4. Confirm the information and choose to either Approve or Reject the operation.

5. Provide authorization comments

6. Click confirm Authorization to commit the operation.

Once authorized you will get a message as below indicating confirming if the parameters

were authorized or Rejected based on user input.

3.0 APPENDIXES

Transaction Type Parameters

Parameter Name Parameter Description

Transaction Type Type of transaction that can be done via

channels

ISO Code ISO Code provided for the transaction type

by the international body been used as the

financial standards body. Financial standard

used is 8583

Control Account In case the transaction requires a contra

account for posting the accounting entries

then this input will be enabled to provide the

internal account to be used.

Linked Channel Subcode In case there is a deeper level of distinction

between 2 or more channels within a specific

channel, then this will be used. e.g.

distinction of different mobile network

providers such as Airtel , Safaricom , TNM ,

MTN. etc.

Charge Code In case there is a charge associated with the

transaction type , select the transaction type

here

Active Indicates if the transaction type is active for

use or not.
