Stage 1 · Studio - Provided Artwork
PDFs (portable document files) are supplied to Fine Print via; CD, DVD or Email.
These PDF files are then checked for print compatibility with Fine Print’s pdf specifications and settings which are provided to all our clients.
Any queries or problems are then given to the client via email, fax or telephone for their consideration.
Proofs are sent to the client at this stage if requested.
Clients then have the opportunity to amend the artwork and re-supply the pdfs if deemed necessary.
Stage 2 · Ripped
The brochure is then Ripped (rasterization of the pdf into the four print colours) an imposition is created for output onto plates using our chemical free CTP Plate Setter.
Stage 3 · Press Room
The brochure is then printed to the imposition in one eight page section for the pages and a four page section for the cover.
Stage 4 · Finishing Department
Each section is then folded ready to bind or stitch. Additionally the cover may then be sent for varnishing or laminating.
Stage 5 · Dispatch
The finished product as packed awaiting delivery by Fine Print or collection by the client.
fine print - how we work
An artwork brief is either supplied for us to produce in our design studio or as print ready pdf files.
Fine Print flight checks and RIPs the file to our digital platemaking system.
A colour proof is produced for your approval and signature.
When approval has been received we can forward the job to the relevant printing press.
The job is then printed and goes through our print quality control.
When we are happy with our printed sheets, these are passed through to our finishing department. This is the last stage of production where the finishing touches of cutting, laminating, creasing, folding and stitching takes place.
Once again through final quality control the job is ready to despatch, via the Fine Print transport system.
