Growth &OpportunityIn 2013 the PennyWise Resale Centers moved forward with expansion and increasing the community’s awareness of our mission. FBCWC broke ground for the Richmond location of PennyWise and the administration of-fices, which were opened in the Spring of 2014. The donation center opened in Missouri City, TX has proven beneficial to PennyWise donors, customers and clients. Donation drives held throughout the area expanded the Agen-cy’s community outreach efforts. The PennyWise staff worked diligently to increase awareness of the mission through excellent customer service and expanded commuity donation drives.

Agency Service by the Numbers- 123 women received Emergency Shelter - 143 children of victims received Emergency Shelter - 35,722 Crisis Hotline calls were answered - 44,184 meals were served to Shelter residents - 236 children participated in the Children’s Program - 121 unique residents visited the Shelter Clinic- 658 women received Non-Residential services- 617 children received Non-Residential services - 50 men received Non-Residential services

- 329 sexual assault victims received services- 207 women received Personal Advocacy- 155 women participated in classes or trainings at the Career Development Center - 33,460 Volunteer Service Hours were provided - 218 women (and their children) transitioned into Permanent Housing - Approximately $100,000 in Clothing and Household Items were provided to clients through our PennyWise Resale Centers.

The Fort Bend County Women’s Center helps survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children with comprehensive services that help them live violence-free, away from their batterers and abusers. We provide emergency shelter and other services, i.e. counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy (including legal advocacy and accompaniment to court), case management, financial assistance when appropriate, transportation (emergency and other), job training and life skills classes, information and referrals to other social service agencies, GED/ESL classes, referrals into scholarship programs, rental assistance; a Children’s Program (counseling, evaluations, tutoring, mentoring, etc.), a Wellness and Stability Program to assist clients with mental health issues, and a Non-Residential Program to assist clients once they leave the shelter. Services are available to both resident and non-resident clients, and are made possible through volunteer hours and donations from the community.
