FINDING CURES
Some aspects of neuroscience we explore:
> Degenerative brain diseases - Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease, Alzheimer’s and other dementias
> Mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
> Neurological disorders including obstructive sleep apnoea and chronic pain
> Developmental disorders such as autism and Asperger’s syndrome
> Balance and falls in the elderly and stroke rehabilitation
> Safety of car travel for children and adults Changing the face of
neuroscience research
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Thanks to your generous gifts, more great discoveries are possible. To help speed up breakthroughs, please consider:
> Volunteering for research projects
> Becoming a regular giver to See it Through to a Cure
> Fundraising for NeuRA through a running event or challenge trek
> Joining the Bridge for Brain Research Challenge
> Leaving a gift in your will
> Arranging donations in lieu of flowers to remember loved ones
Please, will you help today?

THE VALUE OF MEDICAL RESEARCHNeuRA is an outstanding performer in medical research thanks to supporters like you. Here are just a few of our recent achievements:
> Leading a new study using an immune treatment to reduce symptoms and improve cognition in people with schizophrenia
> Discovery of a gene and potential hormone treatment for frontotemporal dementia
> A new project that aims to understand who will benefit from a simple and portable treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea
> Participation in a global clinical trial that aims to prevent the development of symptoms in individuals at risk of familial Alzheimer’s disease
> Development and trial of a safe, evidence-based, tailored exercise program to improve balance, delivered through an iPad
WHO WE ARE
NeuRA’s vision is to prevent and cure diseases and disabilities of the brain and nervous system through leadership, excellence and innovation in neuroscience research.
We are an independent, not for profit medical research institute based in Sydney.
WHAT WE DOEvery year, one in five Australians suffers with a major brain or mind disorder.
At NeuRA, we are dedicated to reducing this burden on our community.
For many affected by these devasting diseases, medical research offers the only hope.
YOUR SUPPORT AT WORK
Assoc Prof John Kwok, Alzheimer’s disease researcher
Dr Michael Hornberger
When you support NeuRA, you are helping over 300 world class researchers. You can also be proud to share in the hope that our discoveries will reduce the pain and suffering for patients and their families.
Your support also:
> Helps fund research ideas which are so new that they don’t yet qualify for government support
> Contributes to equipment which government does not fund
> Funds the Sydney Brain Bank, which prepares, stores, and distributes brain tissue samples to qualified researchers in Australia and around the world
> Provides doctoral scholarships (full, or supplementary) to PhD students
