Case: Finnish tool manufacturerWhat: One Finnish tool manufacturers would like to know better potential of Brazilian market for their products. Their target customers are shipyards and their subcontractors in steel work.
Why FinBraTech: Company is small and therefore they do not havecapacity do this by themselves. The product is good and has a long historyand references in Finland and other countries.
How: It was found that students could do this for them under the name of FinBraTech.
Who: Finnish students who had just come to exchange in Recife will do thisduring their stay of exchange.
Outcome for the company:- To know Brazilian shipyards, their products and to know especially
shipyards at Recife area what kind of tools they are using in their steelproduction.
- Find out possible distributors or resellers
Outcome for students:- They have learned how to make market studies in real cases and new
environments- They have learned new things in doing business
Case Brazilian shipyardWhat: One Brazilian shipyard which has started few yearsago in Northeast of Brazil. They need to further developtheir project management and especially supervision at production. Also general productivity needs to bedeveloped.
Why FinBraTech: FinBraTech could provide by it’snetwork teachers from Finland to improve knowhow levelof supervisors at production. Otherwise to find the rightcontacts would be basically impossible.
How: Some professional training could be given Finnishteachers and Finnish and Brazilian students could do some project works and thesis too.
Outcome for the company:- To have more qualified supervisors- To have increase in productivity
Outcome for students:- They have better understanding of production and
industrial functions and new environments
Case example
What: A Brazilian company from Pernambuco in technology industry is looking for Nordic and Russian markets. Their product is good but they want to make some development and modification in area of welding and mechanical parts before really entering to market.
Why FinBraTech: FinBraTech has contacts in Finland and it is cost-effective way to proceed.
How: For development of product cooperation between universities of UFPE and Lappeenranta University of Technology LUT (strong in welding) and students can do projectworks marketing and implementation studies.
Who: Brazilian and Finnish students together with UFPE and LUT.
Outcome for the company:- Their product developed and modified suitable for new markets.- To have marketing and sales plans for new market
Outcome for students:- Students have experience of international cooperation in real case and good ability to
work in such environment after graduation
