Financial Aid Office
The mission of the Student Financial Aid and Scholarship Office is to provide financial assistance to students so that they may achieve their
educational goals while attending the College of Southern Idaho.
Types of Aid

Free Application for Federal Student Aid
•Apply online at www.fafsa.gov

•Plan for about 45 minutes to apply
Apply early for Federal Financial Aid!
The priority deadline is in mid July (check website for exact dates) for the upcoming Fall semester.-FAFSA submitted-All requested supporting documents submitted, too.
If your financial aid awards have not already disbursed by the tuition due date, you are required to:1. Pay your tuition in full -OR-2. Complete a Tuition Loan Agreement with the Office of the Registrar.
The Process
• Complete and submit your FAFSA online
• Notification that your FAFSA was submitted will come from the Department of Education
• Notification from CSI will follow
• Submit requested information and/or documents
• Receive your award notification
• Accept and/or decline your awards
• If you accept loans, complete the additional loan documents

What is needed to fill out the FAFSA
Student needs:
FSA ID
Record(s) of previous years earnings: Federal Tax Returns Transcript and W-2(s)
Driver’s License or State ID number
Social Security or Alien Resident number
Current savings and/or investment records
Current bank statements
Untaxed income records, if applicable: These include: child support paid and/or received, and worker’s compensation payments received.
Parent needs (if applicable):
FSA ID

Helpful Tips
• Provide a current mailing address and an email address that you check regularly.
• Review your answers before you submit the FAFSA.
• To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must be a degree seeking student at the institution you apply to.
• Applying for federal financial aid is a process. It can take up to two weeks for the College of Southern Idaho to receive your FAFSA from the Department of Education.

• FERPA is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records, including financial aid information.
• Limited information is released without written consent of the student.
• If you choose to allow someone else access to your financial aid information, the Permission to Release Information Form is available on the FERPA information website:

Loan TipsLoan Tips!
• If you accept a loan, you must complete an Entrance Counseling session and a Master Promissory Note. Available on Net Partner and the CSI Financial Aid website.
• If you are a first time student and a first time borrower, you will have a one-time 30 day delay on your loan money.
• If you are attending only one semester of an academic year, your loan money will be split into two disbursements during that semester.

Disbursement
• The first disbursement of Federal financial aid and scholarships will be on the first Friday of the semester. Attendance must be verified by instructors before any awards can disburse.
• Financial aid awards will be made based on the number of credits students are enrolled in at 8:00 A.M. on Monday of the second week of classes. If students who receive Federal financial aid increase the number of credits they are enrolled in after 8:00 A.M. on the second Monday, they will be responsible for all tuition and fees for those classes, (they will not be awarded additional aid for the semester).
• Once attendance has been verified, awards will be applied to your student account to pay your tuition, fees, room and board, and any book charges.
Refunds
• If you have funds above what is owed to the college, this goes to you as a refund.
• Refunds are sent to BankMobile on Tuesdays and Thursdays.• First refund of the semester will be the second Thursday after the start of
school.
• College of Southern Idaho utilizes BankMobile for all financial aid and scholarship credit balance/refund distribution.
• The amount of time it takes to receive a refund varies on the method you selected.
BankMobile Refund Preference
• As soon as you receive the refund package you will need to select a refund preference: • Go to : www.refundselection.com
• Open a BankMobile account and request a debit card• (within 24 hours of refund)
• Have your refund deposited to your current bank account• (3-5 business days)
• Have a paper check mailed to you (to the mailing address we have on file in MyCSI - please make sure that your mailing address is correct)• (2+ Weeks)
