FEATURED OFFICE OF THE WEEK Student Financial Assistance The Student Financial Assistance office is dedicated to helping USI students and their families navigate the financial aid process. Educating students and families in making the best use of the resources available to finance their college education. The office has several different types of aid you may be eligible for. Their website has a list of loans, grants, scholarships, work study, and assistantships available to you. They recommend you fill out your FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, as soon as possible. The initial deadline was March 10th, but this does not mean you can no longer apply. SCHOLARSHIP ADVISORY:

The Federal Trade Commission cautions students to look and listen for these tell-tale lines:

"The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back."

"You can't get this information anywhere else."

"I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."

"We'll do all the work."

"The scholarship will cost some money."

"You've been selected" by a "national foundation" to

receive a scholarship - or "You're a finalist" in a contest you

never entered.
