Temporary Total Disability is only available and provided to those who have opted and selected for this benefit 8 online at applica�on stage. No cover is provided for Temporary Total Disability if this is not selected. Addi�onally it is not provided as an op�on for policy dura�on/s of less than six months.

Accident a sudden, unexpected, unusual, specific, external event which occurs at an identifiable time and place during the period of insurance .

The number of consecutive weeks set out in the schedule for which temporary total disablement benefit is paid.

Accident

Benefit Period

Identifiable physical injury which is caused by an accident, and solely and independently of any other cause (except sickness or disease directly resulting from, or medical or surgical treatment rendered necessary by such injury) results in your death or disablement within twelve months from the date of the accident .

Bodily Injury

The number of consecutive days set out in the schedule after the date on which you first became disabled which must expire before temporary total disablement benefit becomes payable.

Elimination Period

Permanent loss by physical separation of a hand at or above the wrist or of a foot at or above the ankle and includes permanent total and irrecoverable loss of use of your hand, arm, foot or leg.

Loss of limb

Definitions Wherever the following words appear in bold they will have the meanings shown below.

Loss of sight

Permanent and total loss of sight which we will consider as having happened:

Ÿ In both eyes if, on the authority of a fully-qualified ophthalmic specialist after correction, the degree of sight you have left in both eyes is 3/60 or less on the snellen scale (meaning you can see at not more than three feet what you should be able to see at sixty feet); or

Ÿ In one eye if, on the authority of a fully-qualified ophthalmic specialist after correction, the degree of sight you have left is 3/60 or less on the Snellen scale (meaning you can see at not more than three feet what you should be able to see at sixty feet).

Means your sickness or disease the symptoms of which first appear during the period of insurance and which solely and independently of any other cause results in your total disablement within twelve consecutive months after the symptoms first appear.

Ÿ You notify us of any inaccuracies in the information contained in the schedule , or of any changes to that information (see the “notifying us of any changes or inaccuracies” section below);

accurate and that the schedule reflects the coverage sections you have requested (see the “information you have given us” section below);

Ÿ Amend the terms of your insurance. We may apply these amended terms as if they were already in place if a claim has been adversely impacted by your carelessness; or

Ÿ Charge you more for your insurance or reduce the amount we pay on a claim in the proportion the premium you have paid bears to the premium we would have charged you ; or

Ÿ Treat this insurance as if it had never existed and refuse to pay all claims and return the premium paid. We will only do this if we provided you with insurance cover which we would not otherwise have offered; or

Ÿ Cancel your insurance in accordance with the “Cancelling this insurance” section below.

If we establish that you deliberately or recklessly provided us with false or misleading information we will treat this insurance as if it never existed and decline all claims.

In deciding to accept this insurance and in setting the terms and premium, we have relied on the information you have given us . you must take care when answering any questions we ask by ensuring that all information provided is accurate and complete.

Failure to comply with the above could adversely affect your insurance or any claim you make.

Information You Have Given Us

If we establish that you carelessly provided us with false or misleading information it could adversely affect your insurance and any claim. For example we may:

Ÿ Require you to pay more for your insurance.

Ÿ Need to amend the terms of your insurance; or

Ÿ Intend to treat this insurance as if it never existed; or We or your broker will write to you if we :

When we are notified that information you previously provided is inaccurate, or of any changes to that information, we will tell you if this affects your insurance. For example we may amend the terms of your insurance or require you to pay more for your insurance or cancel your insurance in accordance with the “Cancelling this insurance” section below.

If you become aware that information you have given us is inaccurate or has changed, you must inform your broker as soon as practicable.

Notifying Us Of Any Changes Or Inaccuracies

If you fail to notify us that information you have provided is inaccurate, or youfail to notify us of any changes, this insurance may become invalid and we may not pay your claim, or any payment could be reduced.

If this insurance is cancelled outside the cooling off period then, provided you have not made a claim, you will be entitled to a refund of any premium paid, subject to a deduction for any time for which you have been covered. This will be calculated on a proportional basis. For example, if you have been covered for six (6) months, the deduction for the time you have been covered will be half the annual premium.

If you cancel this insurance within the cooling off period then, provided you have not made a claim, we will refund in full any premium you have paid.

Ÿ The date you receive this insurance documentation; or

This insurance has a cooling off period of fourteen (14) days from either:

Ÿ The start of the period of insurance whichever is the later.

Ÿ Threatening or abusive behaviour or the use of threatening or abusive language.

Ÿ Non-cooperation or failure to supply any information or documentation we request; or

Refund Of Premium

Ÿ A change in risk occurring which means that we can no longer provide you with insurance cover;

Cancelling This Insurance You can cancel this insurance at any time by writing to your broker .

We can cancel this insurance by giving you thirty (30) days' notice in writing. We will only do this for a valid reason (examples of valid reasons are as follows):Ÿ Non payment of premium;

If we pay any claim, in whole or in part, then no refund of premium will be allowed.

What Is Covered

This section only covers claims which fall within the definition of bodily injury and does not cover any claim caused or contributed to by illness.

Section One

Accident

1. Death

We will pay the benefit shown in the schedule of benefits if you suffer bodily injury during the period of insurance which results in your

10. For persons under 14 days of age.

4. For general health examinations, and examinations for check-up purposes not incidental to, or necessary to diagnose illness or bodily injury ;

5. For any disability, condition or illness which originated prior to the effective date of this Insurance until a period of 365 days consecutive days has elapsed during which you have neither received nor required any treatment for the said disability, condition or illness;

7. Incurred in your country of domicile;

9. For congenital defects and deformities if you have not reached your third birthday;

6. For pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage or any disorder of the reproductive system;

8. Incurred more than 12 months after the date the first expense was incurred, or any ontinuing expenses incurred after you are fit to travel to your country of domicile;

What Is Covered

3. For dental examination, X-rays, extractions, fillings and general dental care; supplying or fitting of eye glasses or hearing aids; except as a result of bodily injury sustained during the period of insurance ;

We will cover medical expenses solely and directly as a result of your : 1. Sustaining bodily injury , or 2. Falling ill during the period of insurance .

What Is Covered

We will pay up-to a maximum of USD500,000 under this section. Where you are entitled to cover under this section and section three – medical evacuation and repatriation expenses in respect of the same accident or illness, the maximum we will pay under both sections combined is USD500,000.

What Is Not Covered

This insurance does not reimburse expenses: 1. For rest cures, sanatorial or custodial care or periods of quarantine or isolation;

2. For cosmetic or plastic surgery unless necessitated by bodily injury sustained during the period of insurance ;

2. If the benefit for death is covered and an accident results in your death within twelve (12) months following the date of the accident and prior to the definite settlement of the benefit for disablement provided for under items 2 to 7 above, the only benefit payable will be item 1 above.

4. If the benefit for death is covered, this benefit will also be payable in the event of your disappearance. We will only provide this benefit if:

We will not make any payment under this section unless you are, prior to the inception date of this insurance, in good health and free from material physical or mental impairment or infirmity and have not suffered from any recurring illness. What Is Not Covered

We will only cover your medical evacuation and repatriation expenses if the medical practitioner:

What Is Not Covered (Applicable To Sections One, Two And Three)

A. This insurance does not cover claims in any way caused or contributed to by:

10. Your being intoxicated by alcohol or drugs;

7. Venereal disease or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), AIDS Related Complex (ARC) or Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) howsoever these have been acquired or may be named;

12. A chronic pain syndrome including but not limited to Chronic or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, or fibromyalgia (a syndrome characterised by chronic pain in the muscles and soft tissues surrounding the joints, fatigue and tenderness at specific sites in the body);

6. Your suicide or attempted suicide or intentional self-injury;

8. Your deliberate exposure to exceptional danger (except in an attempt to save human life);

5. Your engaging in flying of any kind other than as a passenger;

11. Neuroses, psychoneuroses, psychopathies or psychoses, anxiety, stress, fatigue or any other mental or emotional diseases or disorders of any type;

Any condition whether diagnosed or not, for which you have sought advice, diagnosis, treatment or counselling or of which you were aware or should have been aware at inception of this insurance or for which you have been treated at any time during the 12 months prior to the inception of this insurance.14 Hazardous pursuits . any injury sustained while taking part in:

a) The following winter sports: free-style skiing, ski jumping, ice hockey, use of bobsleighs or skeletons, repetitive travel in ski run helicopters or any competition. Off piste skiing is only covered if the insured person is accompanied by a suitably experienced guide;

I. Holds the British Sub Aqua Club "Sports Diver" certificate or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors "Open Water" certificate and follows the relevant Club or Association rules and guidelines at all times; or

b) The following scuba diving activities: any unaccompanied dive, any dive involving visits to wrecks or caves, any dive for gain or reward, or any dive below 30 metres. Any other scuba diving activities are only covered if the insured person :

2. The total sum payable under this insurance in respect of any one (1) or more claims will not exceed in all the largest benefit under any one of the items contained in the schedule of benefits.

How We Deal With Your Claim

When you notify your broker of a claim, we will send you a claim form which you are required to complete and return to us . Once your claim is accepted, we will pay you the amount stated in the relevant section of the schedule of benefits.

1. The maximum benefit period in respect of temporary total disablement will be the benefit period shown in the schedule of benefits following the expiry of the elimination period.

Fraudulent Claims

1. If you make a fraudulent claim under this insurance, we :

a) are not liable to pay the claim; and

b) may recover from you any sums paid by us to you in respect of the claim; and

c) may by notice to you treat this insurance as having been terminated with effect from the time of the fraudulent act.

2. If we exercise our right under clause 1. c) above: a) we shall not be liable to youin respect of a relevant event occurring after the time of the fraudulent act. A relevant event is whatever gives rise to our liability under this insurance (such as the occurrence of a loss, the making of a claim, or the notification of a potential claim); and

b) we need not return any of the premiums paid

b. Disrupt any segment of the economy of a government, state or country; or

c. Overthrow, influence, or affect the conduct of any government de jure or de facto by intimidation or coercion; or

d. Affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, kidnapping or hostage taking; and

4. Has caused bodily injury or death to or directly affects the safety of an insured person.

Extortion

2. Disseminate, divulge or use confidential information, which is not electronically held. by persons who then demand a ransom from an insured person as a condition of not carrying out such threats.

The making of illegal threats directly to an insured person to:

1. Kill, injure or abduct an insured person ; or

The unexpected disappearance of an insured person for a period exceeding 48 consecutive hours from the last confirmed contact with said insured person .

Hijack

The illegal holding under duress for a period in excess of six consecutive hours of an insured person whist travelling on any airplane, vehicle or watercraft.

Insured Person

Any person named or specified in the crisis response policy schedule.

The illegal actual or alleged taking, in the territory specified in the schedule, and holding captive of an insured person by persons who then demand specifically from assets of an insured person a ransom as a condition of their release.

The period of time from the inception date to the expiry date specified in the crisis response policy schedule.

Permanent country of residence

The country in which the insured person has their principal place of residence and in which country the insured person has been resident in for at least six of the 12 calendar months prior to commencement of travel.

1. When the insured event has occurred, or is believed to have occurred, the assured must:

8. The assured has the right to cancel up to 14 days from the date the assured receives the policy document at the start of the insurance. Should the assured decide to exercise this cancellation right, the assured will be entitled to a refund of premium provided that the assured has not started a trip to which the insurance applies and the assured has not made or intends to make a claim. Following the expiry of this 14-day cancellation period the assured continues to have the right to cancel the policy at any time during its term by contacting the underwriters, but no refund of premium will be available.

7. This insurance may be cancelled by underwriters solely if the assured fails to pay the required premium. In such an event, underwriters will send or will instruct others to send written notice of not less than 30 days of the effective date of cancellation, and any premium payable will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

9. No assignment of the insured person’s interest hereunder shall be binding on underwriters.

6. The assured may comprise or include more than one person, company or other legal entity. If more than one entity is named in the schedule, only the first named will have any right to receive or nominate others to receive payment of any claim.

3. The assured and insured person(s) must at all times use best efforts to ensure that knowledge of the existence of this insurance is restricted as far as possible.

5. Underwriters’ liability hereunder shall in all cases be limited to the amount shown in the schedule. Specifically, but without limiting the generality of the foregoing, underwriters’ liability shall not be increased because:

underwriters are deliberately or recklessly given false information,underwriters will treat this insurance as if it never existed and decline all claims. If the assured acted carelessly when giving underwriters information several things could happen:

A. If underwriters provided insurance cover that underwriters would not otherwise have offered, underwriters will treat this insurance as if it had never existed. If this happens, underwriters will give back the premium

B. If underwriters would have insured the assured on different terms, underwriters will amend this insurance retrospectively and apply these amended terms to the claim

C. If underwriters would have charged more premium, underwriters will proportionately reduce the amount of any claim payment. If any of these remedies are prohibited or made void by the law governing this insurance, underwriters’ remedies shall be deemed to be amended so as to be those permitted by such law.

5. To the extent permitted by the law governing this insurance, if a false claim is made, underwriters can refuse to pay it, or can treat this insurance as if it never existed. 11. The construction, validity and performance of this insurance will be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of guernsey, and each party agrees to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of guernsey.

13. All amounts shown in this policy are in currency shown on the crisis response policy schedule. Losses will be adjusted and paid in the same currency, unless directed otherwise by the assured . In the event of a loss adjustment involving currency conversion, the exchange selling rate will be calculated using the rate of exchange published in the financial times on the date of settlement. If the financial times was not published on the stipulated date, the rate of exchange will be as published on the next business day.

12. Failure by underwriters to exercise or enforce any right hereunder will not be deemed to be a waiver of such rights nor operate so as to bar the exercise or enforcement thereof at any time thereafter.

10. Notice to any agent or knowledge possessed by any agent or by any other person shall not effect a waiver or a change in any part of this policy, or prevent underwriters from asserting any right under this policy, nor shall the terms of this policy be waived or changed except by endorsement to form part of this policy.

14. To the extent permitted by the law governing this insurance, if the

5. Any insured event occurring within the permanent country of residence

Exclusions

16. Underwriters shall not be deemed to provide cover and underwriters shall not be liable to pay any claim or provide any benefit hereunder to the extent that the provision of such cover, payment of such claim or provision of such benefit would expose underwriters to any sanction, prohibition or restriction under united nations resolutions or the trade or economic sanctions, laws or regulations of the european union, united kingdom or united states of america.

Underwriters will not accept liability for a series of connected events the first of which began before the period of insurance specified in the crisis response policy schedule. Underwriters will not be liable in respect of any losses which are, or but for this insurance would be, covered under any other insurance, save in excess of such other insurance. Furthermore, underwriters will not be liable in respect of any losses caused by, arising from or attributable to any of the following:

1. No cover is provided under this policy for ransom or losses Caused by or arising from or attributable to any actual or attempted payment made by the assured or an insured person in response to a ransom demand

2. Any fraudulent, or criminal act of an insured person or the assured whether acting alone or in collusion with others

1. when requesting the reimbursement hereunder of a ransom, be able to c. demonstrate that such ransom had been surrendered under duress.

The underwriters agree to indemnify the assured up to USD 150,000 in respect of the following insured losses occurring during the period of insurance, subject to the following terms, conditions, exclusions and definitions:
