St. Claire Regional has been moving to an electronic health record over the past two years. On Tuesday, January 15, the first group of physicians – family medicine and hosptalists - transitioned to the Physician Documentation (PDOC) and Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) systems. Over the next several weeks all physicians will transition over to the electronic record system. CPOE, PDOC and MedRec will bring significant benefits to workflow by: • Eliminating paper medication reconciliation • Providing immediate documentation with no turnaround delays or having to sign charts the next day • Capturing dictation in real-time with voice recognition, physicians will capture findings, impressions, plans and descriptions in their own words with real time speed • Quicker Order Work Flow because frequently used orders can be personalized on physician desktop and direct physician ordering will decrease lag time Meditech team member, Nancy Maggard (r), assists Dr. Moore in using the CPOE system. Dr. Vansant was the first SCR physician to use the CPOE module on Tuesday, January 15.
