Maxim Emelyanov

Page 3: Final Major Project: Extra Ordinary

Maxim Emelyanov Maxim Emelyanov was born 1986 in Moscow, Russia who likes to take photo’s of natural objects or species, such as tree’s, animals and people. Most of his work seems to revolve mostly around taking pictures of natural forms (tree’s) and edits them to a un-natural colour, which are usually pink, purple or maybe orange. He also seems to take pictures of people in a forest doing natural things, so it seems as if they’re just ordinary people at a forest doing their own thing, although they are actually being told to pose as if they do not know they are being photographed.

I think that his work is very easy to do and also quite simple but interesting at the same time with the way he has change colours with most things in the picture. Which has made his work quite unique and moving because it catches the eye and it also the colour makes it seem like there is much more going on the picture as well. I find his work quite inspiring because even though his work work is very simple, it actually seems hard to get a photo as natural as some of them.

Plans For Photo-shoot For the photo-shoot I would go to the forest and try and get some pictures just like the way Maxim Emelyanov did. I would also probably try and take some photo’s of some negative space and have tree’s further into the background. I think that maybe if I tried to get some people in the photo’s would probably be a good idea because it would create much more affect to the photo and I would also try and make the people sit down and make it seem like they’re having a conversation.

However, this would be quite difficult as I some people probably wouldn’t want to come along with me to the forest so they can have their picture taken. Although, I would mostly like to take photo’s of tree’s and be more creative and get different angles of them because they’re very structured forms.

This photo was taken in Hainult Forest. I went there to take photo’s because I thought that the natural colours would look very good if I was going to make it into another colour and it would also look really good if the colour was enhanced. I also thought that maybe it would make a good effect on the photo and how it would probably make the tree’s look much more interesting and bold. I also like the tree’s sort of make a tunnel and how it is more brighter further back in the photo, although it is much darker where there are more tree’s. I think this makes the picture look quite interesting and unique, it’s also quite engaging and catches the eye.

When I edited this photo I tried my best to make it seem unnatural and I also tried to put different affects on it. Although I tried not to make it a different colour because I wanted to use something different that also made the picture seem unique and so that it would look the same as Maxim Emelyanov’s work, but using other tools so that it wasn’t exactly the same. I like the way I have edited my photo because it has turned out to look very different compared to the way it looked like in my head.

In this photo I have captured a landscape and some branches coming from the corner. I think this photograph is quite effective because of the negative space in the background and how most of the right side of the photo is mostly covered by the tree with long branches.

I edited this into black and white because I though it would look more mysterious without the colour and I thought that because Maxim Emelyanov always used colours, I wanted to try out a black and white and see how it looked without the green and orange colours. If I was to edit this photo again I would try and enhance the colours and make them more noticable and vibrant, so that it would relate more to Maxim Emelyanov’s work.

I think that this is probably one of the main pictures that I did because it has people in it and the colours are very extra-ordinary as well. The colours are very bold and interesting, they make the picture much more eye-catching too. I like the way I have edited it because it looks much like Maxim Emelyanov work and he has also used the same colours that I have used in this photo as well.

Daniele Buetti Daniele Buetti was born in 1955 and is a Swiss visual artist who works in media, principally installation and intervention. He does his by using photography, video, drawing, sculpture and digitally assisted work.

Buetti seems to like taking photo’s of people and likes to put writing onto his work, although in a very different way. Which seems to be done by poking holes into the pictures and laying them down onto a light box and takes the final photo at that moment. I think this is a very creative way of photography because the words are bright and although they are hard to read they do create an interesting affect to the picture itself. His work also has a lot of meaning to it because it could possibly be what the person in the picture is thinking about and what they have felt in the past as well. Most of what the pictures say are rhetorical questions and they also seem to be asking themselves this too.
