Todorov – Narrative Structure

Equilibrium – A young woman works in the police force living a fairly quiet life, on little pay. She works in the administration side of the forces and only really talks to one co-worker.

Disequilibrium – She begins struggling financially and one day recognises how much money drug gangs make from heists and deals after she is told to investigate into a case. She begins taking drug evidence after it has been recorded and selling it to smaller gangs.

Realisation – She recognises how her new trade could affect her lifestyle being on the force and decides she will attempt to sell all the evidence she has stolen in one go to a larger, more infamous gang.

Disequilibrium - She becomes tempted to cut the evidence with other domestic substances in order to make a larger volume and attain a larger financial success. She gives into temptation however the gang leader recognises what she is trying to do and a car chase begins.

Repair – The police end the chase arresting her as the gang members get away. Due to the reputation of the police, it is decided that she should help the force in bringing down drug gangs rather than have a public trial and sentence. In return she would be given a new identity and home outside of England.

New Equilibrium – Several months pass and she is transferred into her new life feeling insecure and lonely.

Second Disequilibrium - Someone breaks into her home one night and she is taken.

3) Todorov – Narrative Structure

Equilibrium – Two young homeless boys find themselves living rough next to a well-off family whose parents are the head of a large charity organisation.

Disequilibrium – One of the boys becomes terminally ill and realises he can’t afford the medical bill for his treatment.

Realisation – The boys realise that they are in dire need of financial support so devise a plan to capture one of the girls from next door.

Repair –The two boys take one of the girls and hold her ransom hoping they can blackmail the parents. However, the parents of the family realise that the kidnappers are simply two boys needing medical funds.

New Equilibrium – The parents of the daughter get in contact with the boys and state a leeway. They tell the kidnappers that if the boys promise they won’t do anything like this again they won’t turn them in to the police but they have to return their daughter. In return they will offer to pay for the medical treatment as long as they come to work in the charity and help others. The boys take the deal and the girl is returned. The fated boy receives medical treatment and the parents register both boys into their charity as receivers for social help.
