Idea 1: Blind film

✤ The audience would be people who could be interested in alternative film, sound art, people in the theater, curious people.

✤ Intended change/ reaction/interaction i hope for is the use of imagination based on sonic interoperation and the willingness to stay and pay attention to the work.

✤ The final deliverable would be a recap of the experience or surveys of those that had seen the film, perhaps I could team up with a movie night and see what was thought by those who “saw” the movie. I would like to have it packaged like a film that could be submitted to film festivals so perhaps the packaging and surveys.

A project I have wanted to make for yearsA sound scape presented as a short film. The moving images would be similar to Ad Reinhardt paintings where his black square paintings seem like all one color when in fact they are not. The objective of the work is to see if people will stay and listen to the work completely and create their own imagery using their imagination based on what they hear. At the end a short clip would pay during the credits of what I had envisioned the sounds to be.

Idea 2: Elevator Announcements

The idea is that there would be a small strong speaker attached to a motion sensor that would sense when the elevator door was open or closed and play short tracks that would be similar to the subway announcements urging people to “stand clear of the moving doors”

The audience would be people using elevators

The intended change/reaction/interaction I hope for is that people will become aware of elevator etiquette.

The final deliverable from this project would be the artifact that would be placed in elevators and documentation of the object in the elevator.

Idea 3: Self cleaning utensils

The idea is that the utensils would be self cleaning. Often when I plan ahead to bring lunch with me to work I sometimes forget utensils. occasionally I have gotten food and the utensils have been forgotten. If there was a light weight self cleaning solution to this problem it could be a good starting point to help with sustainable cost effective way to cut down on plastics.

The audience would be people who bring food with them places.

The intended change/reaction/interactions is to bring a new type of utensils around that will make some peoples lives a bit easer and help reduce use of plastic utensils.

The final deliverable would be a prototype of one. Ideally it would be working and able to be user tested.

Idea 4: Collapsable chess table

Inspired by observations around NYC and the several chess player who had DYI chess playing set ups.

The intended audience would be those who play chess on the go or would want to carry less and still be able to play chess.

The intended change/reaction/interaction would be to help to people carry less.

The final deliverable for the semester would be a working prototype and a user test.
