Greetings,
I can‘t believe this is the second to last newsletter that I will create as Lieutenant Governor for Division 60/62.
Perhaps, the irresistibly sweet scent of Valentine‘s Day chocolate is melting away the bitterness of being so
close to leaving. Somewhere along my relationship with life, a Key Club affair had occurred, and it‘s just
about the greatest turn that I‘ve taken yet. Pleasing people is hard enough as it is in daily life. Try having it as
a job and you‘ll really know what it takes to be a leader. One gets in the business of leadership for the medal
of authority, the publicity glaze, and the good paper record. Be that as it may, they leave the pedestal with
the undying passion to serve, the patient of a sloth, the long lost wisdoms, the life-long friends, and the
experience that‘s worth as much as gold in this on-going cycle that is life. If words were to be knitted into a
stretch of fabric, they wouldn‘t be enough to cover the meaning of leadership. Certain things in life are
meant to be tasted not seen. Therefore, I guess I should stop trying to convey the past year of my life with
convolution of words. Happy Valentine‘s Day y‘all!!!

David Douglas High School is continuing to strive for higher level of club activity.
Thanks to the gracious wisdoms from the Kiwanians, I realized that as an
authoritative officer it‘s not adequate to hold the members‘ assertiveness
accountable for the well-being of the club. We, as authoritative figures of the
club have to be assertive as well. That being said, David Douglas is welcoming a
new project, the Children‘s Book Bank. In addition, the 13 DCON attendees are
trying to repress their excitement for the Key Club event of the year.
Grant High School, the home of our division‘s newly elected Lieutenant
Governor, is blossoming into a bright club of Division 60/62. The President and
Vice President are implementing a Valentine‘s Day fundraiser, where Hershey‘s
kisses transform into scintillating red roses. Giovanni, a passionate Key Clubber,
an eccentric President, has already plotted a blue print for the club‘s success in
which fun and extended community service are the essential components.
Lincoln High School, where Miss Judy Lee resides, is also brain-storming for new
fundraiser ideas as well as ways to keep the club exciting and active.
Franklin High School and Madison High School are on their way to being fully
chartered.

DIVISION 60/62 NEWLY ELECTED LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
Age: 17 (in 3 months)
Current position: President of Grant Key Club
Last District: Jamaica District of Key Cub International
Hobbies: Singing random songs, crazy dancing, watching Glee, reading Twilight & Harry Potter books,
watching movies, yoga, volunteering, and Key Club!
Favorite Musicians: Glee, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Florence & the Machine, Imogen Heap, Madonna, Linkin
Park, Paramore, Evanescence, Michael Jackson etc.
People who inspire me: Harvey Milk, Bayard Rustin, Wanda Sikes, Kiwanians, Key Clubbers, the outcasts –
people who are treated harshly, supportive family members and a very special person in my life
– I love you so much!
Best experience in Key Club: Bringing Grant Key Club back to life – When I started the club with the help of
my club‘s great officers and members, I saw myself as the boring, stuck up and ―much too
formal‖ President who did nothing but continuously talk at club meetings and try to be ‗the
perfect President‘. Our club wasn‘t progressing as much, we needed a big change, and I
needed to find a way to drive members to our club. I knew the first thing I had to change as
President was my relationship with the club‘s members, I knew I needed to bring more fun into
our meetings, and make it less solid and formal than it was. So, for the first time in my life, I slowly
came out of my shell, I came out of the box that I used to hide the real Giovanni, and I met the
me I never knew.
My greatest life accomplishment: It is said that, one cannot help another until they help themselves, and
that one cannot love another until they learn to love themselves. So my greatest
accomplishment was learning to accept myself for the unique and extra-ordinary individual I
am. To love the qualities I bear, and accept the fact that I am different from many people.
I realized how beautiful of a person I am on the inside, so why keep it to myself?
What are my plans & goals for Division 60/62? : My plan for the division is to turn the pages in our history,
and create a more progressive and sustainable division. I will plan projects and events that will
allow our division to work as one team instead of separate bodies, and motivate clubs within our
division to cooperate with nearby Key Clubs.
In our division, our clubs are divided and we don‘t work together as we should. As a result, clubs
are constantly weakening, failing and slowly going out of existence. We need to put an end to
this in our division.
My plan is to bring the division together and allow clubs to co-exist. Some clubs are progressing
faster than others, and some clubs are more developed than others. But this will change. I will
spend time to bring our club leaders together, and I will give our division the opportunity to work
as one.
