"How do I max my stats?" "Which Augments should I give to the characters toachieve max stats?" Both of these questions have been seen before from peoplewanting to know how to max their stats. So, I'm here to provide a nifty littleguide on how to max your stats.

This guide will cover the following: general information about stat maxing, howto distribute your Augments amongst the final party, and two ways you can maxyour stats. Now, this guide may get kind of confusing. I will have a chart ofthe character's stats at level 70. Next, I will tell you which Augments toequip, how long to leave them on, and give you different chart statistics forthe stats. If you need any help, or you would like a less in-depth, explanation,please don't hesitate to email me. I will be happy to explain my charts anddiagrams.

To ensure that this guide achieves the overall effect of stat maxing, this guidewill be as error-free as possible. If you spot any errors I have made, pleasepromptly send me an email, so I may correct the problem. That will make thisguide more proficient. And that is all I have to say about what you will findin this guide. Let's get technical.

Before I begin the actual stat maxing section, I need to tell you some importantthings about stat maxing. These notes will help you to understand exactly how itworks, and you will be prepared to successfully max your stats.

Note #1: Don't bother trying to max your stats until your third playthrough. Itis impossible to max them on your first playthrough, but you can on your second.If you want the overall affect, however, you should save it for your thirdplaythrough. That is the best time to max your stats.

Note #2: People seem to think that their stats will just go up based onequipping the Augments to the character. That is not the case. You must have theAugments in your command box in order for them to take affect. That's the mostimportant thing to realize when stat maxing.

Note #3: Placing an Augment in the Auto-Battle command box will NOT give you therequired stats. The Augments must be in the regular command box in order to getthe required stat increases from them.

Note #4: Stat maxing takes place between levels 71-99. Once you reach level 70,you are done with stat boosts. The rest of the stat boosts will depend on whichAugments you have equipped as you level up. So, in other words, you must levelup to max your stats. I suggest leveling up in floors B8-B11 in LunarSubterrane.

Note #5: Don't focus too much on using Augments that increase your HP and MP.While you may do them in the process of maxing your other stats, they can beincreased with Soma Drops and Silver/Gold Apples. Don't waste your levels tryingto get those up, when there are items you can use to increase those. It may takesome time farming for them, but your main stats cannot be increased by any item.

Note #6: Finally, equipment can affect stats. For example, Rydia's Stardust Rodmaxes her Intellect to 99. However, if you do that, you can't get her maxattack, which is 110 from the Dragon Whisker. Therefore, you need to take intoconsideration the kinds of equipment you want on your character. Adamant Armorsgive your stats +15 increases, so you'll want to take that into considerationtoo. Basically, you want to build your stats around the equipment you have.

This is all the basic information you need to know about maxing your stats. Themain one to be careful about it the equipment stat boosts. Make sure you knowwhich equipment you are going to keep on your characters before you startequipping your Augments. Don't worry, you'll figure it out.

Augment Distribution--------------------------------------------------------------------------------It is very important to distribute your Augments, so that each character can getthe max stats needed. I will provide one method to max your stats. It's kindahard to do this because Augment setups are based on personal preference, butthis method is proven to get your max stats. Here is a complete list of how to

distribute your Augments each playthrough:

And those are all the stat increases from the Augments. As you can see, LimitBreak and ????'s Love are the big two that will provide the most. You definitelywant to get those.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------5. Stat Maxing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Here we are, the purpose of this guide. I'm going to provide you with twomethods to max your stats. Keep in mind, I'm not factoring in the equipment statincreases because there are endless possible equiptions. If you want to knowwhich equipment increases stats, check Obishawn's Equipment/Item FAQ. I will,however, tell you the max stats for the attack and defense. That is part of statmaxing after all.

**************** Method #1 ****************

This method consists of the three-playthrough Augment list I gave in section 3.

I will tell you how to max your stats by telling you which Augments to have inyour command box and for which levels. Here are the characters final stats atlevel 70:

Okay, that takes care of Kain. As you can see, I gave Kain Piercing Magic andOmnicasting as Edge already has a method to max stats without it, and they arepretty worthless on Cecil, as all he has is supporting White Magic. It's bestto forget about the magic on Cecil and use Rosa for White Magic.

That will do it for Rydia. As you can see, I managed to max her stats withoutthe second Limit Break. I have found a better use for Limit Break rather thangiving it to her. For levels 96-99, you my equip an Augment that increases HPor MP in place of Reach.

Whew, I was able to revise a method to stat max Rosa. I had screwed up with myAugment distributions, but I managed to max Rosa without giving her the SecondLimit Break. That can now be given to Rydia or Cecil. It's up to you who to giveit to, but I think that Cecil will give more damage than Rydia. Spenstah alsobelieves that LB should go to Cecil, as you'll see in his method.

Finally, we've maxed Edge. As you can see, Edge still has 80-99 for a command.You can replace Phoenix with an HP/MP boosted Augment to prevent less farmingfor Soma Drops and Silver/Gold Apples.

Whew, that took a while. As you can see, I was able to successfully max my stats

by using the given Augment setup. There are many more setups you can use to maxyour stats; you just have to experiment and try new things. It took me a whileto get it out on paper, but once you've got everything up to 99, it's the bestfeeling in the world.

This method was taken directly from Spenstah's awesome Kain and Cecil Augment

FAQ on the Final Fantasy IV DS board. In his method, ????'s love (he calls itKluya's Love) and Limit Break are given to cecil besides giving Rydia the secondLimit Break. Here is what he has to say and his Augment distribution.

SBallen and GauRocks think giving LB to Rydia is a must, and by deciding betweenthe two, you choose your #1 damage dealer: Cecil or Kain. They both can agreethat you must give ???'s love (I'm calling it Kluya's Love from now on, sincethat's what I put) to one you didn't give LB to, even though the two combinewonderfully. Action's guide isn't set in stone just yet, but at the time ofposting, he agrees with them.

That's why I'm here, to present an augment guide that puts Cecil and Kain at thetop, and showcases what Kluya's love can really do. This guide was constructedwith bits and pieces from SBAllen's guide, GauRocks's guide, and some of my ownstrategy. Compared to SBAllen, you get more use out of Kluya's Love, LimitBreak, Bluff, and Recall. Compared to GauRocks, it's more of a toss-up. Inexchange for less of Inferno, Tsunami, Adrenaline and Eye Gouge, you get 1stplaythrough twincasting, more use out of recall, level lust, the two +50%s,Kluya's love, and Limit break. And with that, I'll start my new guide, beginningnow.

Okay, as you can see, giving both Kluya's Love and Limit Break to Cecil allowshim to reach the max stats much more quickly than without. If you decide tofollow this setup, you have complete freedom in choosing the replacement commandfor Dualcast from levels 86-99. You also have a fourth command available fromlevels 71-99. You may choose a command that focuses on HP/MP to prevent lesstime farming.

Rydia is not an "absolute must". She still has an available slot after level 85,so give her that MP+50% to bring up her MP.

Rosa is the most difficult character to completely max stats. I have to givekudos to Spenstah for coming up with a method to max Rosa that doesn't involvewasting the second Limit Break. I didn't have the patience to come up with agood setup after failing so many times.

And that's how you max Edge. He wasn't too hard, but he does have very lowIntellect. That's why it is strongly recommended you equip him with a lot ofIntellect boosting Augments. Also, this is the second method I've shown you tomax everybody. That wasn't too hard, was it?

Version 1.4 December 16, 2008: I realized that I had given Tsunami to fourcharacters when there were only three Tsunamis. I also came up with a better wayto max Rosa's stats without wasting Limit Break. You see, I meant to give RosaWhirlwind, but I accidentally gave it to Kain. Thus, I couldn't come up with aneasy method. By implementing Inferno, Tsunami, and Whirlwind on Rosa, it waseasy to come up with a stat maxing method. Those errors have been corrected, andI also changed Kain's stat maxing method. You'll see that some of the Augmentshave changed in the list.

Version 1.5. March 18th, 2009: It's a little late, but Happy New Year to myreaders. Here's to a new year of productive FAQ writing and good fortune.
