Sound waves would travel faster through a brick wall rather than air, because the molecules in a brick wall (solid) are tightly packed together so energy is transferred from molecule to molecule very fast. In air (gases), the molecules are moving randomly and rapidly, so it is very difficult for the molecules to transfer their energy to another molecule.
