Greyhound Growl Volume XXIX Issue 1 September/ October 2012
Welcome Back!
Hopefully everyone enjoyed their
summer and has started their 2012-2013
school year right so far! This year, we’ve
welcomed six new teachers and many new
students as well. We would like to welcome
each and every one of them to MHS and we
hope you enjoy your time here.
Along with the new teachers and
students, there are a few other new changes
here at MHS. As everyone knows, the
construction of the new health care center
has started this year. It is expected to be
finished in December.
Our teachers have had some changes
as well. Mr. Sparks is now a full day
teacher, where as last year he was only here
half a day. Mr. Gifford is now in charge of
the newspaper and yearbook class and Mrs.
Lovejoy now teaches freshmen, sophomore,
and junior English classes. Mrs. Grooms and
Mrs. McFarland are both now half a day
teachers due to the “FIP” program we have
started this year. Mrs. Roberts moved from
the junior high to the Art Department,
teaching upper elementary, junior high and
high school Art classes. Mrs. Young returns
to the Math Department, teaching eighth
grade math.
With these changes, hopefully
everything runs smoothly and everyone has
a wonderful school year!

New School Health Center
What better way to start off the new
2012 school year than with a new
construction site here at MHS? Students
have learned that this building is to become
a new school based health center for
students at the school. Instead of them
having to be taken from school and taken to
a doctor to be treated, they can see a doctor
at the school clinic. Some students like the
idea of not having to go through the process
of waiting for their parents to pick them up
and driving them to the doctor when they
could just get treated from a few feet outside
the school building. Some students are not
sure how they like the idea of the new health
center.
Seniors are a bit disappointed. Some
of them say they will miss the courtyard
where the class planted trees and flowers at
the end of the year. Seniors are missing out
on eating lunch in the courtyard, also.
There is not much else to say about the
health center for now since it is just the
beginning of the school year and the new
building will probably be finished later in
the year. Hopefully it will be a great
addition to our school and be a success for
the students and the school itself. So
everyone keep their fingers crossed and
hope for the best!
